Aidan Shaw Decommits from Missouri. 4 Star Small Forward. #58 Overall Ranked Prospect in 2022 Class

Actually, I'm going by the comments I see here. Carver is poor basketball arena. I don't know if the basketball practice facility is "all that" compared to big time programs.
I believe that the crowds at the womens game and wrestling matches show that the fans are there.

I’ve got to think Keegan’s success and the fact that he hosted him is a big selling factor. He’s almost like the 3rd Murray triplet. I doubt he cares about recent NCAA success much, after all he originally chose MissourI. He talks about forming his “brand”. What better place to do that under a coach who is an offensive genius and has had a player nominated for the Naismith award 3 years running? I’ve got to think our chances are decent.
for the most part true, but Iowa very, very seldom get these guys

Shaw seems like kind of an interesting guy. Was set to go the that Prep school in Branson and at the last minute decided to stay and play for Blue Valley, which I actually admire. Hes the kind of athlete we need more of.

Iowa offered Aidan on Oct 25, 2019.

He visited Iowa on June 22-23, 2021.

He committed to Missouri on Sep 17, 2021.

Oklahoma State
Maryland

11 Other Offers:

Looks like a Texas Tech or Kansas get.

Worth mentioning that 2 Mizzou players entered the portal today:
Javon Pickett (Sr, G): 32 mins, 11/3/2
Trevon Brazile (FR, F): 21.5 mins, 6.5/5

Will be interesting to see if any other players transfer out--I'd imagine a kid like Shaw would want to play for a competitive team, but who knows.

He'd be such a perfect fit for Iowa's offense and defense. Absolutely perfect!

Knew he had great size and athleticism, looking so good shooting from deep really makes him perfect!

he has the mid range jumper, the 3, and the step back 3. and he has a quick release.

he runs the floor really well. he plays defense & is a rim protector.

I agree; he's perfect for Iowa and is exactly what we need.

Personally, I don't think Martin was the problem at all. They are going to regret getting rid of him unless they really score a great coach now. Shaw leaving alone is a big problem as well as others entering the portal. I used to see him around town, he is a really good guy.
Martin was a problem.

Were Iowa to be able to get him, would immediately put a different twist on next year. Being able to have both he and Kr. Murray on the floor at the same time would present a whole host of problems for opponents defending Iowa.

It will be interesting to see if Missouri can hold on to him.

From the article that follows, it is unclear what schools other than Missouri have contacted Aidan since he reopened his recruitment.

From the Columbia Missourian:

Missouri men's basketball target Shaw with no set date for commitment, likely to come in April

Missouri men’s basketball target Aidan Shaw told the Missourian via Twitter that he hasn’t set a date for his commitment, but he “would say in April sometime.”

Shaw signed his letter of intent with the Tigers but was granted his release when it was announced that former Missouri coach Cuonzo Martin would not return. The program announced it was parting ways with Martin on March 11 and officially hired new coach Dennis Gates on Tuesday.

While they haven’t talked since Gates was officially announced as the new coach at a press conference Tuesday, Shaw said the pair have spoken. The four-star recruit said Gates was planning on scheduling a visit to see him.

Shaw committed to Missouri on Sept. 17. He had offers from the Tigers, Kansas, Arkansas, Iowa, Oklahoma State and Maryland. It is unclear what teams have reached out to Shaw since he reopened his recruitment.

I agree it would be a huge positive for next year, but how often does Iowa get "that" guy.

Aidan had 77 total blocks this season; he had 203 total blocks in his career and holds the school record for blocks in a game (10).

Coach's comment

"It was a joy coaching and being around Aidan on a daily basis," Blue Valley coach Dwight Williams said. "Watching him grow as a player and person has been very rewarding as a coach. Aidan does a bit of everything on the court. He fills up the stat board in every area. He alters and blocks shots on the defensive end and was a leader on defense for us the past three years. He also is a great finisher at the rim with his high-flying dunks and can shoot extremely well from three. He is a versatile player that makes everyone around him better. He is truly a great player and person. I cannot wait to see what he does in his next chapter."

Arkansas making the Elite 8 is huge for them both now & moving forward.

Is Arkansas the best program in the SEC right now?
Probably not, have to see a few more consistent years. Though Musselman does seem like a solid coach. Kentucky will always be the team to beat as long as Cal keeps bringing in his talent.

The Razorbacks were in the Elite 8 last year too. Lost to Baylor to go to Final 4.

This is Musselman's 3rd year at Arkansas.

Kentucky is the traditional blue blood but compare Kentucky to Arkansas the last 2 years.

Kentucky
2021: 9-16, 8-9, 8th in SEC, Not Part of NCAA Tourney
2022: 26-8, 14-4, T-2nd in SEC, 1st Round Loss in NCAA Tourney

Arkansas

2021: 25-7, 13-4, 2nd in SEC, ELITE 8
2022: 28-8, 13-5, 4th in SEC, ELITE 8

Look, I think they are definitely on the upswing. And a great recruiting class coming in. Call’s been doing this for what, 15 years at Kentucky? 2 years doesn’t make them the best team in the league. Though I’d like to see it!
