Angelo Ferrari Narrows his schools to Final 3 Iowa, Rutgers and VT

For some reason I don’t get as excited for early “commitments” as I used to…… especially if we have to live through his older brother first

Early, late, on time, doesn't even matter.

ANY kind of "commitment" is worthless in sports now, no such thing.

College sports is a joke right now.
What part do you not like? How would you like the old college sports rules applied to any other endeavor in our society?

It just means you’re their favorite, for now, as Minnesota and Iowa found out with chittum. Even if they do sign, the portal give them one freebie transfer with no penalty. You just have to keep communicating and do your best to keep them happy.

I still think it's wild that Cody was in Iowa City training for something like 10 months and never signed his NLI. It appears that the Chittum gang had one foot out the door from the get-go, so I can see why the coaches chose to keep recruiting the Ferraris over bending the knee to Daddy Chittum's demands.

I'd be curious to know what funds, if any, were appropriated to CC from the HWC?

think it has to be iowa or rutgers, right? Feel fairly confident there is some good news today
Thought is was strange he felt V tech was the place that would improve his wrestling skills the most, so don’t rule them out. They are a close family, so having Anthony is the biggest chip we have. Kind of like Minnesota recruiting Gables younger brother to help land him, but Anthony is a much better recruit that Gables brother.

Huh? Gable's OLDER brother Bobby? He was actually a top notch recruit out of High School. He was a 3x State Champ and a 2x Junior Folkstyle National Champ. He also won Who's #1 in 2014.

I knew he was the bested the 195, who would have lost to Holloway after the season was over, if Holloway didn’t gas hard in the 3rd period. These two brothers are were both good prospects, but their brothers were/are the prime recruits both programs were going after. I hope I’m correct about Anthony being better, because Bobby didn’t do shit in college. We shall see over the next 2 years

Im curious, perhaps it’s been discussed and I missed it, but the Flo article indicates that Angelo would likely compete at 184 if he chooses Iowa, but 174 at both V Tech and Rutgers. I was under the assumption that Arnold projects 184, as he just won state at 182. Either way they’d make great workout partners for each other and a hell of a 1-2 punch at 174-184. 🤞🏻

Arnold is a 174. He didn't cut for 182 and is wrestling freestyle at 174 right now.

Is Angelo far better than Assad? I am aware some think this is a foolish question.
Of the 3 schools, where is his best chance to step in right away and contribute, or doesn’t it matter?

For a bit of context once all the current seniors graduate, Angelo will be the #3 overall recruit (according to Flo) country. Assad was about #13 if memory serves. Assad had a lot of accolades coming in, but has really underperformed. Just watching the two of them compete as high schoolers, it’s pretty apparent that Angelo is far and away the better athlete. He wrestles a very complete style. Good in all positions. Excellent TD defense and a very diverse offensive skill set. Can score from space, hand fights, elite scrambling ability etc. When put up against other top high schoolers, Angelo dominates. He’s the real deal and fully capable of winning multiple national championships. IMHO

We know what Iowa has with Assad...a guy that gets stuck vs a sub 500 wrestler from Wisconsin.

He's had his chance to shine...and hasn't.

Angelo is a pretty solid at 170 now and has a year to fill out to 184. May be a small 184 freshman year, but skill and strength will still let him beat most 184’s. Gabe is very short, so if he grows this year, he could be a legitimate 184 by the time Angelo gets here. This could all be daydreaming if things don’t go our way in a few hours. We’ve come out the wrong end on all these announcements this spring, we’re bound to have one go our way??

I thought he had momentum going into BT with the win over Wittlake. Then he went 1-2 at BT stuck twice as well. 1-2 at Nationals losing two one point matches to AA. We do need better.

Today? Probably not. In 18 months? Very likely yes. His ceiling is far higher due to his elite strength, athleticism and explosiveness. All the things that have limited Abe thus far in his career. Angelo will have championship potential from year 1 assuming he continues to develop and stay healthy.
