Angelo's decision......

I agree, the QC area doesn't have much to offer (their two most popular places are meh, at best), and Casey's is OK for grabbing something on the way home from a grandkids' sporting event, or during a long bike ride. That said; Pagliais, Breadeaux, the Airliner, Mabe's, Geo John's all put anything I've had on the East Coast (except Uncle Mario's in NYC) to shame, and I've had my fair share of PA and NY pizza (not much Jersey though). We might not have as many Italians, but Muscatine has three pizza places run by Sicilians and one Italian. The Sicilian places are better.

Not feeling Caseys either, but Chicago style better than NY style? Hahahaha!
Harris Pizza in QC is pretty good. Italian sausage, mushroom and green olive whenever I get over that way.

HA HA HA, this is a good one! Good pizza in Pa. Hilarious
Can only speak for my small town. Hanover, PA. Jerry&Sal's, operated by 2 Sicilian families, has been killing it for like 50 years. We've got next level Hotdog shops here as well. Our gas station pizza is worthless though.

I love being here but not huge fan of the pizza here in IC. Same with the Mexican food but I am admittedly picky when it comes to it. Probably the best mexican food I've tasted was in a little place in Rock Valley. In Iowa City, Los Agaves. For quick food, Estelas.

We actually have Italians here, plenty of them. Especially on the eastern side of the state. As I said, I lived in Iowa, frozen pizza from the grocery store was a better option than all but a few places. I found one decent NY style place in either Davenport or Bettendorf and on e in Iowa City. I think a greek family of fellow owned that one

Did you try Red Vespa in Solon, before they closed? Couldn't get good help is what I understood. Only pizzeria in Iowa certified by a consortium in Naples, Italy. Maybe Iowans don't know pizza? Hope they reopen.

If you want authentic Mexican, come to Muscatine. We have about four or five restaurants and a couple of portable restaurants that are as authentic as you want, or most can cater to gringos too.

If Pagliais isn't good in your mind, there's something wrong with you.

To me, it was more about messing with Iowa fans. Carl even offered our janitor a NIL deal.
Could be.

My "meh" post was in response to a post stating the hat thing was a top notch troll job on PSU. Which it wasn't. If it was a troll attempt, it was pretty lame.

If the goal of the troll is to get responses then it was a pretty decent troll.
Increased activity and some new posters from the ‘our feces isn’t odoriferous’ crowd so
Point troll

Congratulations to Iowa in its successful recruiting of Angelo. Now that he and Iowa seem to have arrived at a mutual agreement, I will continue to hope for the best for the young man and Iowa wrestling (well, just short of victory over PSU).

While I continue to understand those who wouldn't have risked Iowa's reputation on 'the Ferrari family,' I simply don't understand the mentality of any who might find glee in anticipating Angelo somehow stumbling. Rather than resigning oneself to some future failure, I think rooting for Angelo to overcome whatever difficulties his upbringing may have presented is the better mindset.

Being the youngest of four boys (among eight siblings), I am personally aware of the kind of family dynamics that might cause the youngest to seek a different path from his elder brothers. And not being raised by a Ward Cleaver-type, I can also personally attest to the possibility of NOT following in one's father's footsteps.

I sincerely hope Iowa Wrestling helps Angelo grow in ways that help him stay on a successful life's journey.

It was a pretty weak effort overall IMO. It's the off season and not much is going on so this might have been the big wrestling news of the week. People are going to talk wrestling and his commitment so it figures someone will mention the hat thing. If he didn't do that they'd talk about the general commitment .

The owners were always so nice when we went there!... Made homemade pasta that was amazing and the Bee sting pizza was the best.. Miss that place

Anthony said he wants to wrestle Chittum next year in Isu meet. This is getting better by the minute. At very least it's going to be some entertaining matches with both Isu and Okie St.
Add to that if/when the day arrives and Angelo tears big Naak a new asshole.

Dresser will need a bucket for his tears.

I'm still curious how long Clone fans allow KD to continue without a top ten finish...25 years?

Any Iowa fan that still subscribes to the little bald troll's website needs to be punched in the nuts.

That's it I'm bringing Pizza to Carver , gonna end this pizza dispute. How many pizzas can I put into a checked suitcase anyhow? May have to rent a Ferrari red minivan load it up with pizza a generator and a portable oven to warm that shit up.
do what you have to do brother….. I honestly make a pretty damned good homemade chicago style pizza in my kitchen

Those neopolitan pizzas are great and all but you could eat three larger by yourself and the price would be the same as three large Casey’s pizzas. That food to cost ratio will never ever pass in iowa, the land of tenderloin sandwhichs the size of car tires.

Nice post - sincerely.

For all the reason CA sucks (high crime, high taxes, insane gas prices, hobos as far as the eye can see) I’m spoiled for choices with Mexican food. It’s the best in the country here. There are at 25 amazing places within 20 minutes of my house. Not to mention AT my house, cause the wife’s Latina (no pics).

Are you from Muscatine? My brother and I grew up there. He stayed in Iowa(Waterloo). I am in PA now. Knew the Carvers very well.

Eat what is locally great, in Iowa and much of the Midwest that'll be beef and pork. In Maine I'd get seafood.
You are forgetting a long list when it comes to local Iowa food.
Wild Mushrooms, farmer's market fruit and vegetables, Muscatine Melons, home grown sweet corn. Dairy from NE & NW IA.
Poultry and eggs. We have the best farm to table restaurants in the land.
Go for corn fed no by-products (remnants) beef, pork and poultry.
Angelo will be exposed to the best food in the world. He’ll be at 184 in no time.

Yes, I've lived in Muscatine all but about a year and a half of my 65 years. I didn't really know Roy Sr. but met Lucille a few times and know the boys through friends and their kids. Two of my kids were in school with some of Roy's grandkids.

My brother moved to Texas and his first visit to a steakhouse was not good. The head chef immediately knew he was from the midwest because of the dislike of the grass fed beef versus the corn fed beef here in Iowa. The chef was from the midwest too.
