CSB.

Anyone here a regular poker player?

Do you win or lose $$$?

Played a lot online when Full Tilt was popular. Put in $100 and played for a couple years on it. When they shut down, they stole the money I had accumulated. That sucked. Also played 4 live tournaments at the casino. Won one of them outright, got second in one, and didn't place in the other two. I enjoy it but don't play much since the online debacle..

I used to play Bovada all the time
I played Bovada and getting money from them was worse than pulling teeth.

I also played live for a time, mostly down at Rside, donkey tourneys were a weekly thing in the winter as a way to kill time.

CSB- In Vegas, I went to Binion's and closed the poker room down as I took everyone's money. I won't say how much but it was a significant amount.

Their Blackjack was a joke. I quit playing, what a racket. If you hit on 13 or 14, I swear a 10 or face card came up 90% of the time. It was insane.

In the bay area I had a weekly home game every wednesday for about 5 years. We would occasionally have some pro's come by. Would play at the card clubs as well.

In Omaha I had the same thing for a few years, but it was more of a dads get together and get drunk kind of thing.

Now in Iowa I play every couple months. All the dads are busy with kids sports and such kind of a bummer. I miss it.

Used to have a regular Thursday night game with regulars for a few years until a few moved away. The most anyone would win or lose in a night was about $200.

Playing online seems way too risky to me. I don't trust I'll get paid, nor do I trust the software they are using. I'm sure there are sites that are legit, but I'm also sure there are many more sites that are set up to Eff you over and take your already deposited money.

I would trust WSOP, GG Poker, PokerStars, and WPT for online poker....their rep is everything.

No reason to not be legit....online poker is like printing money for them after the software is written. People go online...play...they get a rake or part of the tournament buy in for you using their software

My only concern would be people at the same table that are together in person. Or does that not really happen all that much?

They top sites monitor for collusion...not saying it doesn't happen or hasn't happened. A big ring by some big names was busted just a couple of years ago for dumping....and they are all black balled and had their money seized.

They have programs that are checking for everything....a big one they are constantly fighting against is software GTO solvers. I know GG makes no bones about it that when their program is running it is checking to make sure you are not using any solvers on your computer.

People that cheat and collude get greedy and get caught....it isn't that hard to find a patterns where people are dumping to others or is magically coming up with fold button when you have Aces full of Twos....when the other person had quad dueces.

The big sites probably spend more money on looking for something that is not right than on just about anything else.

GG Poker....WSOP Online....they host big money tournaments with the biggest names in poker playing on them. Hell its normal to see a bunch of the American players go to Canada or Mexico when GG has a big one (GG for some reason not legal yet in the US...though it's the biggest site in the world)

I play alot on ClubGG...owned by GG Poker...but operates differently.

Player as a full time job for 6 years, online.

Was an interesting experience, playing online for 14 hours a day, but also playing against some of the biggest stars of that time.

Won an entry into the WSOP, made it to day 3.

“Retired” shortly after, then it got shut down shortly after that.

After 6 years I cashed out with 23k, but playing also paid all my expenses for that time.

How can that happen? Wouldn't that mean there are 6 deuces in the deck?

How much have you won/lost in total?

I honestly have never counted....I know I am up by a good bit in my life...how much who knows.

I am going to start working on playing in bigger tournaments...have only played in two multi-day tournaments and cashed both....but that is a grind from hell. 12 hours + straight of you make one mistake....or get a bad beat....you are done.

Almost everything is hold'em these days...the little that isn't hold'em is Omaha. Just on the flop you could have A22....with one player holding pocket Aces and the other holding pocket deuces.

I couldn't do it. I don't care how much multi-tabling I could do...I would get bored.....which is my one real destructive trait to my game.

yeah, but you couldn't have Aces full of deuces and someone else have 4 deuces in the same hand. Right? It's a single deck. Am I missing something? Do they deal from a shoe?

A22 on the flop are community cards....everyone plays those 3, and the following 2.

The only unique cards are the 2 in your hand when playing hold'em.

Hell 10 people at the table could have four Aces with a K kicker...if the board was AKAAA...in hold'em....not in omaha.

I was young, and dumb.

When it wasn’t my turn, I was reading about or watching poker. I was immersed in the world.

I wish I knew how many hands I played on PokerStars back in the day.

I cracked the top 200 ranked on there once, and that was a huge deal for me at the time.

Haven’t played a hand in years now.

About 8 of us play poker at each others houses every other Thursday. Dealers choice. We play with a joker in the deck which is an ace or a 9. Five aces is the highest hand. High /low split pots, .25 with 3 raises till last hand is 1.00 with 3 raises. Bad night you could lose 50 -60 bucks. None stop trash talking is the key to the game...

Damn...I'm an idiot...thanks for clearing that up. Forgot about community cards.

I miss the action that you could get on PokerStars.

I cleaned up in Razz tournaments...used to regularly by 150ish people in them. Final table was basically the same group everyday.

I wouldn't pretent to be able to play a stud game now...no where to play and those games you need the reps in.

Hold'em is such a child's game in comparison. If I am playing cash these days I prefer Omaha 8s.

LOL...this is why I never got into any of the big tourney's down at Rside, it was the grind I had no patience for.

Cash games were (and are) different. I only played 1/3 NL and did pretty good, never bothered with the 3/5's, that was the big boy's table and at best I was there for "fun".

I have a friend that won the initial Rside Hold 'Em tourney back in the day. He won $28k (took home 19Kish). Won his seat in a $25 qualifier.

Fairly similar group of 5-6 about once a month. $250 buy in.
Rotate hold em and draw every half hour.
3/5 with no limit raises after flop or draw.
Just for shits and giggles.
Edit - forgot to mention there is usually one fantastic slow roll after a few beers every time we get together.

Played online a ton in college, mostly on PokerStars and FullTilt during the glory days. Made enough consistent money to not need to get a real job, just sitting at the computer smoking weed. Fell off for awhile after the online scandals but then got back into pot-limit omaha and spent several summers in Vegas during WSOP time about a decade ago strictly playing PLO cash games. Mostly at the Venetian (actually lived there for a short time at one point), games there were so juicy during that time. That room sucks now though, no omaha action whatsoever. Only good omaha now is at the Wynn and Aria (and the Orleans if you want limit/ mixed games); Aria's wait lists for those games is usually a nightmare... great action though, best chance of running into more drunks and rich degens. Also used to take weekend trips to Chicago and St. Louis strictly to play PLO, there were some great rooms with amazing action around those parts.

F*ck Riverside.

I normally only play at the Orleans....South Point also will have a good limit game running.

I am still in the stage where I need to clean up some mistakes, so playing the better players is what I want.

Other day I have QQ10x from the big....board goes Q10A...2...10

I got roasted....that's the kind of stuff I have to clean up in my game.

I personally hate gambling of any type. One of the biggest wastes of time and money there is. Playing cards with nothing riding on it besides bragging rights is fine though.

If you think poker is gambling...please sit at my table.
