Are you in the "let it burn club?"

Are you in the "let it burn club"?

Let it burn? Meh. I guess. My feeling is more pity for the people who are so aggrieved and bitter that they nominated Trump to be the Republican nominee again.

It's a poor reflection on our country that the conditions exist for someone like Trump to be president again. So I understand the feeling of flushing the whole thing.

I do have hope that the Dems move away from Indentity Politics

Not aware of much "Identity Politics" that Biden or Harris pushed.

I'm very aware of billions in Inflation Reduction Act and Infrastructure Bill $$ that went to Red states and fly-over communities, which Republicans fell over one another to show up at Ribbon-Cutting Ceremonies.

Those are all programs they will now cut off, and destroy the economic growth and benefits a Democrat put forth for them. Who they then voted against due to asinine propaganda campaigns.

When foreign actors can infiltrate social media run by American businessmen to "win" using Identity Politics as their flag, which makes people completely ignore the benefits they've gotten from a different party, not sure what "fixes" that other than some type of economic collapse. Certainly, ballooning the debt like his policies seem poised to do, will leave a mark. Or, cutting off all the benefits those in flyover country rely on.

When they lose their ACA support, Medicare and have SS cuts, we'll have to see if "Haitians Eating Dogs And Cats" resonates, anymore, or if they happily go hungry and homeless, just knowing it was the sacrifices that needed to be made to "own the libs"...

Don't look at us liberals. Trump's going out of his way to burn it down. He did pick Rubio for State which was fine. But the Sec of Defense guy looks worse every clip I see of him talking, and Gaetz and Gabbard---I mean it literally is as if America's enemies are choosing the people for the most important jobs in the government.

Hell, they probably are.

I like to visit the BWCA in northern Minnesota. It's a beautiful wilderness landscape that is susceptible to large fires from time to time. In fact, fire is an integral part of the ecosystem there--I may not like it, but I accept it. I'd certainly prefer it though, if it didn't all burn at once.

If / when the MAGA policies fail, do you really think that they will accept the policies were the issue?

Do you really think that self awareness is there to course correct?

I do have hope that the Dems move away from Indentity Politics, maybe not all the way away, but to some degree. I don't see the Rs moving away from some of the more divisive topics.
I should amend my statement to focus on those folks that voted for Biden but either sat out the election, voted third party or reverted back to Trump. There is not much to be done about hard core MAGA types - they are too far gone. But the majority of Americans don’t like Trump. Unfortunately many are too disinterested to vote. Maybe after some pain they will realize their voice matters.

That’s my hope, as foolish as it may be.

I truly hope it doesn't all go to shit, but this is how I envision Rico and the other MAGAts currently.....

Beginning to think this is just a massive Trump troll job.

Intentionally picking the most unqualified individuals for every position.
It isnt about qualifications. The 'qualified' individuals that you speak of are part of the DC bureaucracy that have gotten us to where we are now. We need visionaries, reformists, not career DC, DoJ, DoD, DoS types. These picks also have what Trump wants. He wants advisors not back stabbers, not future novel writers and not Capitol Hill friends of friends. That was his first term. This time he will get honest advice and from people that are there to make him better rather than make themselves out to be Don Quixote tilting at the Trump Presidency windmill where they later can go to the big money parties and talk all about how they 'tried to stop him'.

Make no mistake, in 4 years, if this experiment doesn't work, you can tell us all about how you predicted it.

But right now, the market loves this president, the world fears this President, and he beat the living crap out of all of you leftists, that underestimated him clearly, and now has his team in place to make his mark.

Im cheering for him. I'll eat crow if the benefits aren't reaped sooner than later.

I’m in the “let’s wait til January to see how much is actually on fire before we exhaust our water supplies” camp.

Gus I have to say I appreciate your honesty. But I do think you are absolutely batshit crazy for thinking a team of sycophants is a good thing. I personally find it laughable that Gaetz and crew would be able to understand truth from fiction, let alone be willing to give Trump an honest assessment. So I will make a mental note of this and we can revisit down the road.

In the meantime it seems you are a fan of literature given the Din Quixote reference above. Can I suggest you read this? It is an enlightening view of what happens when no one is willing to speak truth to a stupid monarch.

No one is rooting for the country to fail.

“Let it burn” = give the country what they voted for. The country clearly wanted to give Trump a mandate, so let him have it - consequences be damned.
Exactly. We all want a great America. Some of us believe Trump’s plans will have exactly the opposite impact that his base believes. I would actually love to be wrong. I will happily eat crow if Trump somehow lowers prices, kicks out all the illegals, while keeping the economy going and putting China in its place.

But I know that won’t happen, so I want us to finally learn as a country the childhood lesson: something that seems too good to be true…usually is. So let Trump do his thing. And went it goes tits up, as I expect, then we will help pick up the pieces and work towards a more perfect union.

Until then, pass the popcorn…I’m expecting quite a few fireworks!

Sad that you don’t.

It’s sad that I know what you jackwads are hoping for? Alrighty then.

You should go read Bruno’s what if thread about trump and his upcoming term. If you had any doubts about a certain segment of the populations Hope for the success of this country over that timeframe, you won’t for long. It’s funny how that same group has admonished the maga crew for hoping for failure the last 4 years, but here we are. Hypocrisy at its finest. But, for some reason, it is always sooooooo much different when the left does it. Makes me sick.

Couple people have mentioned this in the last week. Curious how many people have just let go of the steering wheel and are on board with "screw it".

I can't be that way. I will laugh at each fail, but IMO we collectively need 47 to succeed.
The American people have made it crystal this is the direction they want to go, I'm going to pop popcorn and watch it go down.

don’t understand why anyone would actively root for our country to fail.
It’s not rooting for it. In our opinion that is what Trump has leaned into. He is basically saying I will make it burn, and 40% of the population is pissed and said I want it to burn because my life sucks. For someone who is well educated, well off, I can have the conversations, about Trumps policies, his lies and his authoritarian tendencies. However a majority of republicans don’t see it. They say he was picked on with lawsuits and charges. He rally isn’t that bad, and any concerns with January 6th and Pence is overblown. When you discuss the military and statements he should never be in charge of the military they just claim it’s one person opinion. So if they want to ignore it all and hold their nose, the other large percentage want to see things burn, then might as well watch it burn. I will still be yelling saying told you so, but this was very much an anticipated outcome. He has removed the safeguards and people telling him no this go around.

In all frankness, 50% of the country was more interested in flipping off the other party than anything else. That is the ultimate party before country attitude.
Yep, that attitude is pretty prevalent.

I've never wanted the country to burn because my candidate didn't win so I can't really relate.

47 will succeed

America will not.
funny how we survived Trump's first term with low interest rates, low fuel costs, , low mortgage rates, record unemployment for minorities, and peace in the world. Contrast that with the total **** up of the Biden years in office. Killed 12 of our serviceman with his moronic withdrawal from Afghanistan while leaving billions of dollars in military equipment. Interest rates rising from 2% to over 7%. Gas and grocery prices doubling. Men allowed to compete against women while joining them in locker rooms and showers. An entire Party and corporate media covering up the obvious dementia of Biden and then shitting on him at the last minute. Installing a total ****ing idiot who could not answer a simple question on any policy. Continuing to send billions to Ukraine with no idea on how the money is being spent for a war that the Ukraine CAN NEVER WIN. When Abortion is the key issue in your party you are doomed. And NOW you are concerned about the next 4 years? How in the hell can it get worse?

More service individuals died under Trump. Gas prices were artificially low due to Covid. Grocery prices inflation did go up more than usual due to logistics, stimulus, and Trump immigration policies. The whole issue is I think they go more after the policies I prefer. Secondly I want a decent human being in the White House who I can trust to manage on a daily basis and when shit hits the fan.

I think this election has broken some folks that had severe TDS.

I worked for a farmer growing up who I’m still close with. When I go back to Iowa I usually spend a day or two helping him on the farm. He has a severe hatred for Trump and his 35 year old son could easily have been the Trump shooter. Very liberal.

I talk to him about 4 times a week during harvest. Every bad situation that happens turns into a Trump issue. It’s all he wants to talk about.

Then the worst possible situation happened. He. Has been renting 600 acres from a family since the mid 1990s. His lease was up this fall and he was negotiating a new 5 year term. One of the owners put a Trump sign on the land and he went nuts. Got into an argument and they told him they are going to lease to someone else now.

He also was getting free hog manure from a neighbor for roughly 200 acres. The guy doing the spreading had a Trump flag on the spreader. Well, he refused to allow the guy on his property and the hog farmer told him to fuk off and now he doesn’t get the manure.

Lastly, he stopped going to church because they are all “trumpers”

People take this shit way too serious. Step away and take a deep breathe
