He's not doing anything at NCAAs. Can barely move his one arm

The illegal hold tOSU was challenging was apparently a 2-on-1 -- one of the most common ties in wrestling. Head-scratcher there.

Re-start. S rolls on the whistle and escapes fast. 2-1.

Demas leading Welch 2-1, BTW.

H with quick double off the whistle for 2. Quick escape. 3-3.

L in deep on double, lefts S off the mat, and CAN'T FINISH.

Standing around now.

S with half shot. Both guys on their knees. Stalemate.

1:12 left. Eventful 1st period.

L with nice shot but can't finish on the edge.

S is going to run out of gas. Already sucking wind.

S with low single shot but L defends. Stalemate.

:30 left.

Standing around now. L needs to pressure him.

L pushes S OOB. S clearly hurting. I question Ryan's wisdom of wrestling him here. Win at all costs, apparently.

2nd Period:

L with quick escape. 4-3.

Standing around.

S shoots in deep. L with the headlock to his back for the FALL!

Steibler hurting his chances at getting a good seed at Nationals as well. Prolly not a good move on Ryan's part.

DiJulius' throw was huge. He was on his way to losing that match. Nice move, but pretty much in desperation. Hopefully that doesn't end up winning Big Tens for tOSU.

I'm home now but will let WWDM continue on PBP.

Got the radio going so if Ironside has something to add, I'll jump in.

174: Evans (E) vs. Brunson (B)

1st Period:

B with 2 on 1. E clears.

Collar ties.

B with a snap. E holds position.

E backs B off the mat but B circles.

E with nice shot on the edge. Gets to one leg but B reaches OOB and touches the floor -- automatic OOB call. Very Perry-like.

1:10 left.

Collar ties.

Half-shots by both guys.

B backs off to the edge again. Very Perry-like. OOB.

:35 left.

E barely beat this kid in the Midlands finals. . . .

E shoots a few times. No score. OOB.

End of 1st. 0-0.

Radio comments on Evans.
Ironside happy with Evans' aggression in first period Didn't score but took shot.
Riding- Ironside wants to see Evans get back to being that dominant rider that people are scared of. The guy that turns people.

Fair enough, Vall. I'll let you know if I need a spell. If there are two Iowa guys going at once, we can split them up.

2nd Period:

E on top. Drops to the leg and keeps control. Riding tough. OOB.

Spiral ride. B to his feet. E drops to the leg again. OOB.

B to his feet. E drops to the leg. B tries to cut the corner. Almost gets it but E casts his hips over and lifts the leg, keeping control. Nice move by Mike there. Mike drops to the leg again and plants him on the mat OOB.

1:45 of RT. Ride-out would be huge.

Rides him out.

End of 2nd. 0-0.

3rd Period:

E starts down.

B puts in the legs. Stalemate.

E to his feet. B cuts him.

On the edge, E shoots a low single. B dives in on the foot. Very Delgado-like. Stalemate.

:55 left.

B now showing his first offense of the match.

E staying away.

:30 left.

Tying up on the edge. OOB.

tOSU fans booing. E circling and stalling, but smart. Time runs out.

Evans wins, 2-0.

184: Brooks (B) vs. Robertson (R)

1st Period:

R aggressive in the ties, looking for underhooks. B with a collar tie.

B with a 2 on 1. Tries a foot sweep. Now drops to a leg and finishes. OOB. 2-0.

NEED BONUS PIONTS HERE.

1:41 left.

R tripods up. B trying to break him down. Drops to a leg. Gets back on top before a 5-count.

Spiral ride now. R tripods up. B breaks him down. Looking for tilt. Gets a 1 count. On the edge. 1:00 of RT.

:40 left.

OOB.

:31 left.

B drops to an ankle. R tries a weak switch. Rides him out. 1:43 of RT.

End of 1st. 2-0.

2nd Period:

B with a quick escape. 3-0.

Tying up. B with a nice shot near the edge. R with wizard. B grabs the far foot and finishes. 5-0.

R to his feet and B basically cuts him.

Not much more action.

End of 2nd. 5-1.

3rd Period:

B controlling him.

Finally gets him broken down. Need some tilts.

:15 left. Not going to have time.

R to his feet a couple of times but Brooks returns him.

Brooks wins, 6-1. Major would have been nice, but we'll take it.

McCutcheon got dinged pretty good at the end of his match and was limping pretty bad as he gutted out the last :30 seconds.

My guess here is that you guys are going to get a win an an extra 2 points at 84 in the 3/4. Just a guess, it could have been one of those tweaks that you can walk off later. But it didn't look good.

Sorry
I just saw this.
Burak is up 6-3 in 3rd with :36
Reviewing another Burak TD

197: Burak (B) vs. Huntley (H)

3rd Period:

B up, 4-2. Starts up.

Rides him a while. OOB a couple of times.

H to his feet and out. 4-3.

H shoots but B does a great job of coming around and almost cutting the corner with hands locked through the crotch.

B with a nice low single shot but H steps out of it.

B with beautiful double and drives him toward the OOB. His toe came off the mat, but if it was still in the circle and came back down, he wouldn't be OOB, according to the ref. I didn't realize this. They gave B the 2. Michigan challenging. Would be 6-3, Burak, if upheld. Only :36 left. Sounds like the ref is going to uphold it. Slowing down the video. Kinda cool -- I can hear the ref talking to the video guy as he looks at the replay. Bummer -- sounds like they're going to overrule it. . . . Yep. 4-3.

Time for some tough defense to close this one out. H is going to come charging like a house of fire.

COME ON, NATHAN!

Too bad, because it was a beautiful shot by Burak.

Loooooooong delay. Messing with RT. H has :22 of RT.

Here we go. . . .

H shoots several times. B holding position. OOB. :23 left.

H shooting again. tOSU fans booing. Time runs out!

B wins, 4-3.

TD waved off
Burak 4-3
Huntley coming after Burak
Long shot from away
Burak defends
SW on Burak
"That's a crap call"
11 seconds
Burak fights it off and wins.

I don't understand that though. The foot can be off the mat as long as it's inside the cylinder of the mat. I just be confused.

Didn't think of it that way, you're right, pretty ridiculous.

So minus DiJulius' 5-point move, we would have been up 9 going into the finals, correct? That could be huge. Needless to say, Clark needs to beat him for 3rd.

The problem is that Burak's foot got dragged OOB and touched the mat OOB. It later came down in bounds but had already touched OOB.

That would be a fair trade for Brooks blowing it the first match and Guilibon losing to JDJ. ;-)
