B1G Session 3 PBP / Comments

Burak was stalling, glad it was called. He was clearly running away. I don't know why they give a warning.....stalling should be a point. Pretty much every 1 point match has stalling for the last 30 seconds if there has not been a warning given.

My guess here is that you guys are going to get a win an an extra 2 points at 84 in the 3/4. Just a guess, it could have been one of those tweaks that you can walk off later. But it didn't look good.
Thanks for the info, dice. Sorry to hear that about McCutcheon, but those points could prove crucial if McCutcheon can't go. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. Hopefully McCutcheon bounces back in time for Nationals and it's nothing serious.

Perfect opportunity to reward the aggressive wrestler on a very close call, that was originally called a TD.

I think the refs are apparently wanting more of this ride the ankle for 4 seconds, move up, then start it again for wins. Our guys are gonna adjust to what the refs will let them get away with too. Doesn't mean I have to like it.

Why wouldn't he? The wrestlers will adapt and get away with exactly what the refs will allow them to.

I do think it would help if every stalling call came with at least 1 point to the opponent. Currently, if a guy has no warnings, he'll take the warning as long as there's no point awarded -- and if he's up by 2, he'll concede the point. If it goes 1-1-2-2-DQ, or something like that, guys won't be nearly as willing to take the first stalling call. Of course, the refs have to have some guts and make the call, too, and that's most of the problem under the current rules.

WWDMHawkeye and Vall thanks for the play by play! It's a joke that BTN makes you pay and KXIC can't run a live feed

The refs would be even more cautious to call it and it wouldn't do any good

I have idea, I will send my cell ph# to you via fb and the we can communicate better for PBP.

VALL -- CAN YOU GET THE BURAK MATCH?

Just to let everyone know this Penn St/Minnesota hoops game will go to Overtime or run late just to piss us off. Never fails.

Lol come on, Willy. He was running away. Blatant stalling.

The stalling rules don't need to be changed. They need to be enforced.

I don't understand that though. The foot can be off the mat as long as it's inside the cylinder of the mat. I just be confused.
The problem is that Burak's foot got dragged OOB and touched the mat OOB. It later came down in bounds but had already touched OOB.
Thanks, I'll watch it again later. I certainly don't know more than the official, but any part of the body inside the mat cylinder is all it takes. If his foot was in the air but in the cylinder and he had control that's it. I probably have the sequence wrong in my mind.

Another obvious tweak that would help is the one point push out as we have discussed a million times. It's a no brainer.

He was stalling and he knew he could take it. Good job.

Ironside and Grace are not sure how they are going to have the Championships in 25 min.

It happens, like the girls OT game gipped us out of the 125 match.last airing.

MSU had one guy finish 8th, on the positive side though they won't finish dead last unless Marylands HWT pins his guy.

I had a good view online. It was close, but I do think his toe got dragged OOB briefly. Beautiful shot, though.

Probably so. I think the officials get it right far more than I do from my living room. Thank goodness the call didn't matter though.

The never stall mindset is not correct. If you have the lead and have been pushing action all along then you saved up the right to use the warning. The right thing is to circle and guard, don't give up anything and get ready to cross face somebody's head off when they take a long shot. It is not cheap, if you put yourself in the lead then you have every right in the world to do it and win.
