Maximus Magayna (Columbus Catholic) over Nick Fox (Osage) Dec 8-1Going on this weekend. Usually have some good individual matches and team competition. Anybody have any insight into results?
Brackets are on there. Video is on Rokfin.Anyone know why the Battle of Waterloo isn't on Trackwrestling?
Couldn't find anything on trackwrestling, not even brackets. The link to the tournament is a dead end.Brackets are on there. Video is on Rokfin.

Not impressed but one gets what they pay (or don't) for.

Brackets are on track and you can see them for free, so yes, you actually get more than what you pay for.Couldn't find anything on trackwrestling, not even brackets. The link to the tournament is a dead end.

Paging Sans.Where’s this Magayna kid looking at going to college? Assuming Iowa tops the list?
Is he even a top prospect? Haven't heard much buzz around himWhere’s this Magayna kid looking at going to college? Assuming Iowa tops the list?
I thought UNI?Is he even a top prospect? Haven't heard much buzz around him
No.Anyone know why the Battle of Waterloo isn't on Trackwrestling?
He just placed 5th at the Gable Donnybrook. He's a good wrestler for sure but definitely not elite or a top prospect at this point. Is he even a top prospect? Haven't heard much buzz around him
I fail to see the fawning here. I only see a couple posters say he is a good/not great wrestler at this point. Are you speaking in general? This isn’t a shot at any Iowa high school wrestlers, but it’s amazing how many of our fans complain that we don’t recruit/land the top 10/top 20 pfp guys in the country, and then fawn over good not great in state recruits like they’re can’t miss and gotta have guys. Recruiting only Iowa is what got us in trouble in the early to mid 2010s.
Just in general. But reading between the lines of a few posts here. But I’m mostly speaking in general because it happens a lot on here especially around the state tournament.I fail to see the fawning here. Edit to add: I’m guilty of this in the past.
I was a bit surprised at his finish in that one. He is up to 170 now and maybe finding life tougher at that weight. Good kid, still a junior. He just placed 5th at the Gable Donnybrook. He's a good wrestler for sure but definitely not elite or a top prospect at this point.

Pool 7 but yeah, you're not wrong.I agree with you. This is one small example but you’re also right on the mark overall.
BTW, the mighty have fallen quickly in Iowa HS wrestling. Lisbon and NHTV are in bracket 6 today. Denver is in bracket 8. Wow.

Is really a senior though as he loved 8th grade so much he tried it again.
Serious question....can he compete an extra year?
No nothing about the kid, but most states you get 6 years from the start of 7th grade.

His dad is a true piece of work.
Someone will probably correct this but at last count in Iowa you get 8 semesters of high school and you can’t compete once you’re 20
That would be weird, since 7th graders can...and do....compete at the varsity level. Hell some 7th graders dominate.
I believe I read in the Courier it went to 4th tiebreaker which was fewest penalty points and Osage had zero. Not sure how accurate that is though FWIWDoes someone know what tiebreaker they used to determine Osage as winner?
I thought round-robins in team competition usually used team point differentials between the round-robin teams.
WSR beat Ankeny by 8
Ankeny beat Osage by 1
Osage beat WSR by 4
So WSR had a + 4 point differential, Osage was +3, and Ankeny was -7. Based on point differential between the three round-robin teams, WSR would be the winner.
Did they also include point differentials from the meets against Bosco? Osage hammered Bosco by 20 so that would make them the winner in that scenario.
Yep. They won on fewest penalty points.I believe I read in the Courier it went to 4th tiebreaker which was fewest penalty points and Osage had zero. Not sure how accurate that is though FWIW
Announcer said Osage won a tiebreaker by having the most match wins in the 3 championship pool duals.Yep. They won on fewest penalty points.
I left as soon as the wrestling ended.Announcer said Osage won a tiebreaker by having the most match wins in the 3 championship pool duals.
Also, If you lose in the quarters at the Donnybrook the best you can place is 5th. So, he lost once there not twice. The guy who beat him is a defending state champ in Illinois.
He just got beat by someone better. It isn’t more complex than that.
Not sure which is correct then because saw it was fewest penalty points in a couple different spots now so who knows.Announcer said Osage won a tiebreaker by having the most match wins in the 3 championship pool duals.
