Learn something new everyday.
Went to HS in Minnesota. Was curious, since 2006 there has been five 7th graders to win state in Wrestling.
7th graders on varsity was normal in individual sports. Occasionally happens in team sports...ie Maddyn Greenway
I think Kittleson is a transfer.
In that area, elite guys filter to the better programs. Schools like New Hampton and Cresco have just faded away.
Osage has had a tremendous youth program for decades. Not WSR level, but very good.
Jennings is a bit of a dick, but a good coach.
Hardly. Cresco has lost several to transfer over the years yet has remained strong. Just a few points out of top 10 last year even without the kids who bailed for Osage. Both Cresco and NH are wrestling crazed towns. They will be back.
The problem is both towns are losing population as well. I think they're even down to 2A in football.
Neither town has industry to draw newbies. I know you're a native, but New Hampton is becoming a dump. We were in town for a wedding in October and I was shocked how NH looks.

You just described nearly every small town in the state that isn't within about 20 minutes of a major population center. Both schools have been 2A for some time at this point.
Agreed, but New Hampton started it's death spiral when Sara Lee left and never replaced the industry. NH is now smaller than Osage. I lived within 40 miles of NH nearly my entire life. Along with Waukon, the town is on it's death bed. That's more than just my opinion, it's the truth.
I wrestled in high school when Severson was the HC at NH. He had some very good teams.
