Pollard should simply raise the season football prices by $10 per game. Have you seen how cheap they are? Iowa students are charged as much as general public season ticket purchasers at HalfPrice Stadium. Surely a slight bump wouldn't deter the Loyal Sons who boast about their great their fan base and attendance. Either that, or loosen the tight restrictions on recruitment of jucos and transfers in FB and BB.

The role of the AD is basically three things.

1, Keep the money flowing into the program, glad handing the big donors and get them on board to finance the next project.

2. To present the school in the best image if a crisis occurs.

3. Hire competent coaches and provide them with every resource they need with in reason to be successful at that school. Each school would define its own level of success, and that can and does change. At Alabama, success is winning national championships, at Iowa it is winning the division and getting a new years day bowl. At ISU for the time being, its increasing the win total in football, making a bowl appearance every few years and making the NCAA tourney in BB and advancing to I would say the second weekend.

What are you talking about now, Pollard and a hissy fit. There is an old saying that really applies here," if the other side is complaining how you are doing things, it must be right." See a lot of that in this thread. Look the ad job is to stand up for his coach, Pollard does that, I wish at times he would show more tact, but he does stand up for his coaches. Iowa fans love the emotion that madfran and your wrestling coach show on the sidelines, but then rip ISU when Rhodes did the same thing. Its silly, but Iowa fans love to do it. I see few if any ISU fans talking about how madfan acts, why do Iowa fans do it to ISU?

No I love how Pollard puts isu in a "positive" light. Lifetime contract if you ask me. I will vote for the same with the AD of the year staying at Iowa which you fully support as well.

Kind of like madfran throwing a chair at MSU a couple of years ago, and then getting booted from the game. The ad forced to sit behind the bench for a few games, you mean, like that? But I guess the ad was not there to keep the coach in line, just a better seat to see the game from. I remember Pollard expressing the thought ISU had gotten screwed over and the league fining the university. Look if the man had done nothing, you would be complaining he did not stand up for his coaches, when he does, you are going to bitch about him doing it. Basically you are looking to bitch, if it was not this, you would come up with something else. That is really why its hard to like Iowa, I know, its not all Iowa fans, really just a small minority, but they are very vocal and want to run down ISU any and all chances they get. I think Iowa for the most part like ISU runs a pretty clean athletic department, both have done things, that looking back I am sure they realize now was not the best way to handle the situation, but by and large both do a good job. But lets face it, most of the fan bases for both teams get along, but a few hate each other. That is just the way it is. I do not hate, Iowa, dislike their holy than thou attitude when dealing with ISU, but do respect what they are trying to do over there in IC.

Well Fran could go full on Larry Eustacy I suppose. When looking for an example of how a coach or AD should act isu is surely the poster child for what not to do.
