Test match for NCAA's? If Cali can duplicate that in a couple weeks maybe he tries some new offense late in the 3rd and tries to steal it.

Nice job by Caliendo not getting majored. And I mean that sincerely; no sarcasm. He wrestled a guy who is a level above everyone else at that weight. I'm impressed that he kept it close.
Mikey needs a misdirection shot to use. Every shot was to Mess’s left leg…if he can come up with something to the right leg might be able to catch him.
Or, late in 3rd…go big and try for the big throw??? I don’t know. Messenbrink is so damn athletic

It’s all relative. He did a real good job staying square and minimizing his offense, but he was also really never close to scoring because of it. Now, I agree that it probably is the strategy that gives him the best chance to win, but you have to open up and be very aggressive to score on Mess and I just don’t see a scenario where 1 takedown will ever be enough.
4-1 is much closer than any other match he has had, but I am not sure he was really any closer to winning. Still, a great amount of effort and strategy to atleast have a chance late in the match!
Sucks that Messinbrink is in is weight class. It feels like Mike C is the biggest goer in the NCAA outside of Messinbrink. Love Mike C’s drive.

The next 2 weeks until NCAA’s should be solely dedicated on “how to get a takedown vs Mess”. The defensive match allowed him to stay in it. Completely opening it up like he has tried in the past won’t do it against him.

165 is crazy. I think Mikey is head and shoulders above everyone at 165 not named Messenbrink and I think Messenbrink is as far above Mikey as Mikey is over the rest of the field. I think the only way Messenbrink doesn’t tech/pin his way his way to an NCAA championship in two weeks is if someone catches him in something weird and gets an early stick on him.
PSU Just has some freak level studs. It's too bad MC is up against one of their best
One great thing about PK is that he crushes non top 15 guys. That’s why you pick him over Nelson. Neither likely to place super high, but PK can pick up an extra 4 pts in bonus
Braunagel is hot and cold, but PK didn’t destroy him either. Only 1 takedown in that match and lots of riding.
I still think a healthy Brands would be more likely to reach the podium, but you are correct In saying by Kennedy is more likely to score bonus on the backside.
On top of that, Kennedy is due for some luck of the draw. His backside draws have been pretty brutal at NCAA’s and even catching the 2 seed Kharchla in the condo-semis sucked today…
With the right draw and a little luck, maybe he can sneak on the podium in a couple weeks!
He has a hard ceiling. I think he is just limited athletically. When he runs into the top tier guys he just can't put it together.

Big escape by Max. And I don’t care who it is doing it but when you’re riding and just keeping your toe in to milk riding time it should be stalling or a restart!
