Has anyone out there done a bowl projection for the Hawkeyes? Win out and we are in but what if we don't? Where do the Hawks land at 12-1? 11-2?

An 11-1 Iowa team is likely headed to one of the "access bowls" likely the Fiesta or Peach... Wouldn't stun me to see Iowa in Peach vs Navy

11-2 probably lands us in the Citrus I know the loser of the title game can't fall below I think the Outback.

I think the Rose is off the table as the winner of Michigan Ohio State is probably playing for that as long as Sparty wins vs State Penn

I still feel the Rose is on the Table. If Iowa wins against Nebraska and loses against Michigan State in the CCG and Michigan beats Ohio State. I do not see a 2 loss Michigan team jumping a one loss Iowa team that just loss the CCG against a top 5 team. The only way that this would happen would be if the committee puts more emphasis on branding and name recognition than wins and losses. I mean, thats just crazy! Oh wait.

yeah, we're boned.

Yup sadly if we lose we will not go to the Rose Bowl, which sucks.

If we get Navy in a bowl game, consider me one who will be upset. I realize they have 1 loss, but it will be another triple option team that we will face in a major bowl. If Iowa wins that game everyone will say, "they should beat them". If Iowa loses it will be the biggest news to ESPN, "NAVY pull the upset." Shows you Iowa wasn't that good, blah blah blah crap.

As long as Iowa doesnt lose 2, they are going to Rose Bowl.

If Iowa and MSU win this week. The consolation for losing the BTCG is the Rose. The winner will be in playoff.

This is not at all accurate. If Iowa beats Nebraska and loses in the Championship game, we will be in the Rose. Lose 2 and we won't be in the Rose.

Guys, as some have pointed out, it's simple: win 1 of our next 2 games, we're in the Rose. Win neither it's Peach or Fiesta. Win both and it's the Playoff, probably Cotton.

If they get into the playoff, for purely selfish reasons, I hope they are put into the Orange against clemson.

If IA loses 1 of the next two, why do some of you think it is automatically the Rose Bowl? If OSU beats Michigan I could easily see the Rose committee inviting them over IA.

This was my line of thinking too... Depending how it happens and who wins Ohio State would be very attractive to any bowl especially the Rose

I had thought to go through the exercise of seeing how likely it is we could stay in the Top 10-11 if we were to lose both games (who to root against, etc) but I decided not to worry about that unless we lose to Nebraska. But my gut tells me it's not necessarily the Citrus with 2 losses, with the right breaks.

Which is more important to the Rose committee:
- Bringing tons of football fans to Southern California; or
- Bigger TV ratings?

If it's fans flocking to SoCal, Iowa would clearly be the better choice. If TV ratings are more important, tOSU or Michigan might be a better option (the
Harbaugh vs his old team story might be attractive).

Here's hoping we win the next two, and the Rose isn't even in play.

If Iowa is 12-1, I think Iowa brings 60000 fans to the Rose Bowl.

The fact that Iowa hasn't been there in 25 years would be a great reason to pick them. The fan base has been clamoring to go for years. They wanted us after the 2002 season but was behind the Orange in the pecking order.

This is why 1 loss Iowa goes, among other reasons.

If we beat Nebraska and lose to MSU (assuming they beat PSU), OSU may beat us out for the Rose with only 1 loss. Michigan with 2 losses would not beat us out for the Rose if we beat Nebraska. We'd be higher ranked than them. If we lose to Nebraska and win the B1G, its likely the Rose, but can't rule out the playoffs. If we lose the next two, Rose is almost certainly out, but may have a chance at the sugar, peach or fiesta (if stay in the top 11).

It was so much less complicated before OSU lost to MSU

This has been talked about over and over.

According to the Rose Bowl if the BIG champ is in the playoff the Rose Bowl will pick the next highest ranked BIG team in the CFP rankings.

So in that scenario if Iowa loses the BCG and is still ranked higher than UM or OSU they go to the Rose.

Doesn't the big ten have rules about bowl selection? Wouldn't the rise have to take the runner up in the big ten?

They've said they would take the highest ranked B1G team available if the conference winner is not available.

Yes, assuming they beat Michigan, and if Michigan beats OSU, OSU and Michigan may both be higher ranked than us if we have two losses.
It's clear we need to root for Michigan this weekend. But I'm afraid OSU is gonna beat them easily and move up in cfp giving us no margin for error.

There was an article in the DMR a few weeks ago with tons of direct quotes from the Rose Bowl Reps. They made it very clear that the only thing they care about is who is the highest ranked Big10 team in the final poll. All of the speculation in this thread about selling tickets and who was there last just doesn't matter. I'm too lazy to dig up the link but just google it and you can probably find it.

Yes, it sounds like Rose committee wants to wash their hands of it and let the rankings decide. That way no one can be mad at them
