Agree that most of us don't know much about the specifics and details of running an offense at the collegiate level (or any level for that matter). But, like pornography, while hard to define, we know it when we see it, the same holds true for what we've witnessed with Iowa's offense, we may not know the technical reasons for it, but it has not been good for awhile. Yes, there have been bright spots along the way, but it is never consistent, e.g., wallop OSU, scoring 55 points, and the next week against Wisconsin they muster 50 yards of offense. Last year stands on its own. Was it a personnel problem? Definitely. Last year's OL was terrible. But all of that ultimately points back to the coaches to figure it out.
All that, I want Brian to succeed. He seems like a good guy; he's matured over time. He clearly has his roots in Hawkeye football. There is much to like about those intangible elements. But, the offense has not been good. And now, it's become a national narrative. In some respect, that has to impact recruiting talented offensive players. I hope he proves all the naysayers wrong, not for an "I told you so" moment, but because it means that Iowa football has had success and there would be signs that it would be continuing. He has a lot of work to do, and as mentioned before, a lot of pressure on him to succeed this fall. I believe this is his last chance at Iowa.
