This. If a pet is an emotional support animal then that animal should be with their owner 24 hours a day to assist with their needs. People that bring their pet due to their personal preference to the office shouldn’t happen. They only do this because of the people with needs do it so they feel they should be able to do so as well. That’s a hard no for me. Keep your dog at home if it’s not a support animal. I know I do unless it’s on a walk on the local bike path to get them exercise out of my home.I love dogs. Any dog that is specially trained to alert an owner with a life threatening medical condition, a seeing eye dog, or specialty working dog along these lines is amazing.
An owners emotional support animal providing comfort or just a pet who's people can't fathom others getting out of the house to enjoy an activity without pets ruin shared space enjoyment. In this instance it's always the owner, not the pet who is trying other's tolerance of public courtesy.
I like dogs, I just don't give a shit about YOUR dog, and don't want it around me when I'm trying to shop or eat or whatever.
I had a colleague bring one into the office one time in midtown, I have no idea how the dog walked through midtown pre-pandemic. The colleague was from The Netherlands and had just flown in from Amsterdam, and I offered to let it sit in my office while she did whatever meetings got her a free trip to new york. After about 2 hours of me talking to this dog and getting no reaction whatsoever, I realized that the dog only knew Dutch.
Maybe you mean service animal. As emotional support and service are very different.This. Agreed. ^^ Just a couple weeks ago I walked into a restaurant and a dog came running over to me and then jumped up on me. It wasn't an attack, but more of an overly enthusiastic greeting. The dogs owner yelled at it and it promptly ran back to him, so not a big deal.I voted no because I get tired of seeing people bringing dogs where dogs aren't supposed to be - in a public pool, in the grocery store, in a restaurant, and yeah, in an office.
You want a dog as a pet, that's cool. But leave your dog at home and quit bringing it everywhere like it's an accessory that everyone should be cool with having in public places. I like dogs, I just don't give a shit about YOUR dog, and don't want it around me when I'm trying to shop or eat or whatever.
