I’m not going to blame the decision to go for 2 (had they gotten it Iowa State would’ve had to score a TD on final drive and even if you kick PAT Cyclones still would’ve sent it to OT).

I’m not going to blame the D (outside of Ohio State this was the next best combo on QB/WRs Iowa will face). There’s only so much you can do against players like that.

I mostly blame the fact that Iowa threw it more than they ran it in the first 35 mins of the game (20 throws, 17 runs) when they were GASHING Iowa State. They threw it 4x from inside ISU 5 over 2 diff possessions and Cade was 1-4 for negative yardage and Iowa settled for FGs. Iowa should’ve been up far more than 13-0.

Not a bad loss because Iowa State is good. It’s just an inexcusable loss considering the circumstances.

In the 1st Quarter, Iowa had 7 first downs. Cade was 8-11 (72%) for 72 yards. Iowa had 113 yds of offense.

If you were on offense and your coach goes into clam shell mode after scoring just 16 points with an entire second half to play, you probably would think the coach doesn’t have any confidence in you.
