Sure you’ll keep an open mind Kirk. Sure you will.

arrogant - absolutely. Idiot - no, he is not an idiot. Quite the opposite. His pride and stubbornness keeps him from being an elite coach.
“Cade has to play better”.What's the downside of playing Sullivan? You're 4-3 with 5 games to go.
Time to turn the page.
This is just gaslighting at this point to say "Cade has done enough good things". That's a lie and he knows it. He hasn't done nearly enough good things.
cade was the one person who liked the post that he remains the starter
Agree. He's light years better than his replacements. No idea what's going on there. The Deshaun Lee situation is baffling. How does a guy go from starting three games with decent success to not seeing the field after what we witnessed last Saturday? There has to be more there than just it being Phil’s decision.
I agree. Besides, it’s very likely Cade will skip the bowl game anyway to prepare for the combine and NFL draft.
Come on, Fran. The WR group is tearing it up this year under Budmayr’s tutelage!Didn't "the gift from heaven," Jon Budmayr, give KF his blessing on Deacon when Deacon was in the portal looking for a new home?
I don't trust Budmayr in/with anything.
And let's realize it wasn't really a bone headed throw. He was going down and if it's an incomplete pass the ball is back at the 1. There was nothing to lose since he was throwing it. It did start out going forward. It was an attempt to keep the ball near the goal line. It didn't work, but nothing was lost. If it was deemed "grounding" then it's the same result.

In the game thread, I think the reaction was mostly "WTF are you doing???"
Good questions. Not answered, but good questions.
A better question is what if he can't play better, because we're halfway through the season and it's obvious that this is as good as he gets. Simply saying he has to play better isn't a potential solution to anything. The whole thing is ludicrous.5,000,000,000 : 1. The odds that Sullivan would be named the starter for NW. We all knew it. Iowa will be just good enough to beat NW, so we'll be back to there being no reason to change QB if you're winning. See how it goes?!
Yeah, don't put Sullivan in on 3rd and 1 because he didn't just do it last week against Washington. Oh, that's right, he did. Kirk's having a hard time following his own logic. Facts always seem to get in the way.
"Cade has to play better." Not to nitpick, but did anyone ask him, "What if he doesn't?" Unless Lester says that it is his decision alone to play McNamara, I will not believe it.
Sort of the other side of the question, but the answer would be the same. Effectively, it's good enough. I stole this from an X reply to Kirk's presser. Thought it was hilarious.5,000,000,000 : 1. The odds that Sullivan would be named the starter for NW. We all knew it. Iowa will be just good enough to beat NW, so we'll be back to there being no reason to change QB if you're winning. See how it goes?!

He would respond back with something like he works with the staff on all personnel decisions.I wish someone would flat out ask him if it is his call McNamara is starting, or Lester's.
Don't worry. Kirk isn't making any in game changes short of injury. The problem with having Cade be named the starter this week means he's getting all the #1 reps this week. So if Cade shits the bed on Sat in the 1st half, Sullivan got no prep work and has to go in cold and looks like shit, and KF can say "see, told you". Which tells us nothing because Sullivan wouldn't have gotten any #1 reps. I would just like to see 1 week where the change is made, the backup gets all the #1 reps to prepare, and then you put him out there on Sat. Then, if he shits the bed on Sat, no one can say anything. But god forbid he lights it up.....then KF looks like an idiot. Honestly, there's literally nothing left to lose because it's all been lost 7 games in.
Good question by Adam.... but Kirk is the king of "non-answers" especially when it comes to QBs. You might as well ask the question to the hawkeye banner wall behind him
Maybe not. Watch him sit out and Sullivan hit the portalI agree. Besides, it’s very likely Cade will skip the bowl game anyway to prepare for the combine and NFL draft.
That was sarcasm.

Be different if they actually ate a couple and wandered off, BUT nooooooooo they take one bite out of every single tomato. Kinda like if a QB had an off game but played lights out the rest of the time, one could deal with that.I stole this from an X reply to Kirk's presser. Thought it was hilarious.
I keep telling the possum that is eating my tomatoes that he “has to” stop. But he doesn’t, and I’m not changing anything in my garden, so he keeps eating my tomatoes.
That’s horticulture!
