California ER Doctors Corona Virus Briefing is Jaw Dropping

Yes it does, 1700 deaths divided by 1,000,000 positive covid cases.

.17% mortality rate.

Same number in 5 different studies. Same ballpark figure as the flu.

He has their points out of order.

Their main point is that the mortality rate is much lower than thought because the covid virus is much more widespread than the very few tests that have been done on the most symptomatic people.

The vast majority of these patients found in the Stanford, USC and Miami studies had mild to no sypmtoms.

Sweden released a report a week ago that found the same low mortality rate of .17% that the two doctors claimed. In Sweden they had 1 million positives based on their study with 1700 deaths(1 week ago).

In Miami they found up to 220,000 positives in Miami-Dade with 287 deaths.

Their bottom line is the covid virus is much more widespread in the population than has been reported on. This lowers the mortality rate down to a similar level as influenza. The shutdown is no longer necessary and does more harm than good at this point in time.

He says hospitals need to be able to treat non-COVID-19 patients. That hasn't been the case. Hospitals have shut down most care other than strictly emergency care.

I don't really disagree with much else, other than his notion that some politicians aren't on a power trip. They undoubtedly are, based on some of the nonsense we've seen in various places.

Who confirmed those 220,000 positives? I know you don't like the question but it's still valid.

There are a lot of people outside of nursing home residents who are having bad outcomes with this disease. I know if someone I cared about got it I would be very, very concerned for them.

It's very cavalier of you to minimize the impact on thousands of lives.
Well the fact of the matter is unless you’re over 60 and have multiple medical problems or are over 80 without, you’re chance of dying from this disease is frankly very close to zero.

Those at risk need to stay home. The rest of us do not.

You are pseudo intellectual that pretend smugness and big words makes you smart.

You are incapable of writing in complete sentences.
Not a good look, in addition to being mostly ignorant on how the serology testing works.

We get it - you're not concerned for yourself so everyone else should be unconcerned as well.

And we thought the "Me" decade was in the 70s.

No. I simply believe that as long as the at risk folks stay out of harms way, the more well people that get it the better.

Yes Sweden has 2400 deaths for 10 million people. Do the math. The mortality rate is so low it does not justify a shutdown.

No, an answer for this: if the danger of Covid-19 is equivalent to the flu, why have more Americans died from Covid-19 in 2 months than flu in a typical year, also taking into consideration that the great majority of Americans have not been exposed yet?

You are trying very hard to prove this is just the flu by using numbers from other countries, but we have the numbers of actually dead Americans. How do you explain away so many dead Americans in such a short period of time, during dramatic stay home orders, when relatively few Americans have been exposed? Please tell me.

“Human beings are full of retroviruses,” he said, “We don’t know if it is hundreds or thousands or hundreds of thousands. We’ve only recently started to look for them. But they’ve never killed anybody before. People have always survived retroviruses.”

A wise man once said this.
