So...according to the Bible, Lazarus was divine? Cool.
No, Jesus resurrected him.
So...according to the Bible, Lazarus was divine? Cool.
900+ people killed themselves and their children in service to a madman in Jonestown. Cults can make you do all kinds of strange, self-destructive things.
But...God resurrected Jesus...and Jesus is God...so God resurrected Lazarus...making Lazarus divine. No, Jesus resurrected him.
But...God resurrected Jesus...and Jesus is God...so God resurrected Lazarus...making Lazarus divine.
If A = B and B = C, then A = C. Transitive property of divinity.
LOL...sure Jan. Where are the guards? They were forced to. Guards surrounded them and shot those that attempted to escape.
More lol...if Jesus resurrected himself, he wasn't dead.Lazarus didn't resurrect himself.

Well, one of us is discussing this from a singular perspective. You have the meaning of ignorance backwards, here. No, I read Scripture myself.
You're profoundly ignorant of this topic.
Voila!Jesus was dead...he was brutally scourged then nailed to the cross.
No victim of a Roman crucifixion survived which is what makes Jesus so unique in history.
Ask Jesus to save you when you're dead and you will see.
So... just so I'm clear... you're arguing that the people who committed suicide at Jonestown, ALL did it against their will???Jim Jones used armed guards and threats to force 'suicides.'

The 918 deaths in Guyana under cult leader Jim Jones were more mass murder than suicide.www.google.com
From the WaPo article linked in your post:Jim Jones used armed guards and threats to force 'suicides.'

From the WaPo article linked in your post:
[Odell] Rhodes is the only known survivor of Jonestown who witnessed a part of the suicide rite before managing to escape. He was helping Guyanese authorities identify the dead yesterday.
Most of those who drank the deadly potion served to them by a Jonestown doctor, Lawrence Schact, and by nurses, did so willingly, Rhodes said. Mothers would often give the cyanide to their own children before taking it themselves, he said.
Sooo...Jesus was resurrected by God...and Jesus IS God...and Jesus/God resurrected a very dead Lazarus...making Lazarus divine.Jesus was dead...he was brutally scourged then nailed to the cross.

I did. I've actually read a lot more than that article, regarding the Jonestown event. Most were forced to. Read the article.
You're profoundly ignorant of this topic.
Sooo...Jesus was resurrected by God...and Jesus IS God...and Jesus/God resurrected a very dead Lazarus...making Lazarus divine.
What part of "...did so willingly" as stated by an eyewitness is confusing you?Right. The Mother's were coerced.
There is no prize in that box of cereal. I don't care how many times you shake it!Sooo...Jesus was resurrected by God...and Jesus IS God...and Jesus/God resurrected a very dead Lazarus...making Lazarus divine.
Mark 2:5Are you sure? He's only said to make that claim in John - the last of the Gospels. The claim doesn't appear in ANY of the other Gospels nor in the writings of Paul...and you'd think he would write about that. Paul claiming that Jesus was God but separate from God would have been viewed as heresy before the Trinity was manufactured out of whole cloth.
Maybe whoever wrote John was a lunatic or a liar.
Yes. I think Jesus proved His divinity by resurrecting from the dead.
His apostles were killed for that belief with 0 reason to lie.
The logic is unassailable. You claimed that the resurrection of Jesus was proof of his divinity. I'm simply pointing out that Jesus/God also resurrected Lazarus. It's your logic that makes Lazarus divine.I'm not following that logic.
How old are you?
What do you think will happen after you die?

To the first point, the bible mentions many people rising from the grave. Lazarus is a famous case, but he was just one of several that Jesus rose from the dead. Elisha raised himself out of his gave, as well as some others. Elijah did the same. As Hitchen's said, people rising from the dead was a bit of a banality in the bible.
To the second point, deranged people die for reasons that are completely fabricated all the time.
In neither of those does Jesus claim to be God.Mark 2:5
Mark 14:62
"And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven." ... And you will see the Son of Man seated in the place of power at God's right hand and coming on the clouds of heaven."Mark 14:62
"When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, 'Son, your sins are forgiven.'"Mark 2:5
Crystal ball? HERETIC!No because Lazarus was only resurrected because of Christ.
What do you think will happen when you die in a couple decades?
What? Your first statement makes zero difference in your logic. As for your second, no one knows the answer. No because Lazarus was only resurrected because of Christ.

Jesus!! Save me!!You just said no one knows our eternal fate.
Don't forget to ask Jesus to save you.
You're welcome. 🙂
So humble! You just said no one knows our eternal fate.
Don't forget to ask Jesus to save you.
You're welcome. 🙂
Except he does.In neither of those does Jesus claim to be God.
Jesus!! Save me!!
Whew...I'm good now.
You're correct...except for being wrong.Except he does.
You read Scripture through a papal lens, dude. You have no choice but to absorb it through a Catholic filter.
All day, every day! But, I don't have conditions. You're the one that claimed you are God
