I think you’re correct but I’m not sure exactly how that works. I hope Indy doesn’t go that route though. Kelsey is a great player and should be the team’s #1 priority this offseason. But even great players aren’t necessarily valuable to the team if they aren’t happy.

I don’t want to see the Fever ‘force’ her to stay. My understanding is they are the only team that can offer her a supermax contract. They should do that. She has earned it.

If I remember correctly from the mega-thread, Indy can core her for 1 or 2 years at the Smax contract. With the WNBAPA rejecting their CBA the thinking is a 1 year core and then see what comes with KM because the CBA runs through 2025. Of all the stuff I've seen and read, I don't believe KM is going "unloved" by Indy, and that she is a priority. That may have changed with the new front office.

I think Kelsey realizes the fans and management love her and want her to stay. I just hope Indy avoids a situation where they use contractual leverage to force her to stay. I want her to stay because the Fever offered her more money than any other team was even allowed to offer her and she wants to be there.
