Look, I think Trump telling senators to avoid a fix right now is terrible, but don’t act like the border wasn’t worse under Biden. Texas, it would seem to me, should be able to have a bigger voice at the table than other states, and frankly should be allowed to limit entrance, since it’s illegal

I’m definitely opposed to any state leaving and doubly opposed to a Civil War involving any state, but I do wonder if there’s something in the unique agreement between The Republic of Texas and the US as part of Texas joining the union that makes them believe they have the right to “defend their border”?
They did bring with them some retained rights as an independent country that other territories did not have when they joined the Union. For example they have the ability to break up into five additional states IIRC.
