Civil War…knocking on our front door

Russia is a bigger threat to our prosperity and economic security than our southern border. The problem is, that way have way too many ignorant, uneducated fools in our society that are susceptible to bogus populism. This is in all walks of our society. Every world war was preventable but driven by the emotions and ignorance of the masses. (and our leaders)

Remember the good old days of when the Irish were not welcome, those Scandanavians will never learn the language, the Italians were too brown to come here.

They would never contribute anything to this country. Amrite?
I mean after the Jersey Shore you could have deported all Italians and I'm not sure I would have lost sleep over it.

We all read history books - well, some of us have - so yes we’re generally aware of the waves of immigration that have always been a part of American history and culture.
My own grandparents came to America from Ireland before WWI, and made their way in this country. They came at a time when none of the newcomers arrived using illegal methods. They registered upon arrival and had “sponsors” and a place to go. No one received free health care
or were given free shelter or food assistance.
They sent two of their sons to fight in WWII and two more later to Korea.
I fully support immigration to America and welcome newcomers. I’d just like to know that they’ve followed the rules currently in place
to get here. And I don’t think that’s too much to ask.

But go back to Civil war era, you paternal ancestor would have been told the only way they are getting in this country is mandatory conscription.

I"m not coming after you Goldy, I'm coming after the racists on this topic. Kudos to your heritage and their contributions. Thanks

It’s just easier to say it’s trash than to address it. This question has repeated been ignored by the left on this board.
102, 103, 115, 121, 124, for starters. It also doesn’t seem to address consequences for people who hire illegals.

States have every right to defend themselves if the Federal gov isn't going to one of its main duties. It is actually spelled out fairly clearly.

White house wants no part of the optics of feds going to the border to remove barriers or a skirmish.

To determine if there will be a civil war, ask yourself the following:

Will FOX News and majority of Republican politicians benefit from an actual civil war?

I might be wrong about this, but I think the answer is “no.” This is more about creating wedge issues for political gain and profit.

At least you read it.

Since you stated only sections, not the actual reason you oppose those sections, I help get the discussion going.

102/103. Tom says, no new walls or barriers to prevent entry.

115. Tom supports open borders and the tax payers funding illegal immigration. This section prohibits DHS from (1) processing the entry of non-U.S. nationals (aliens under federal law) arriving in between ports of entry; (2) providing funds to nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) that facilitate or encourage unlawful activity; or (3) providing funds to NGOs that provide certain services, such as lodging or immigration legal services, to inadmissible non-U.S. nationals who enter the United States.

121. More forced COVID shots for everyone, says Tom.

124. Tom says that we can’t even study the costs of illegal immigration to the border states and consider how much it would cost to reimburse them. Why would this be bad?

And yes Tom, there is a whole section that addresses employers who hire illegals. Title VIII. LEGAL WORKFORCE. Maybe I gave you too much credit for reading the bill. Maybe you didn’t read the whole bill?

Specifically section 807.
This section increases the civil monetary penalties for hiring, recruiting, and referral violations involving unauthorized workers and establishes that failing to use the verification system established by this title constitutes such a violation. The section also increases the criminal penalties for engaging in a pattern or practice of such violations.

DHS may debar an individual or entity from receiving federal contracts and grants for repeat hiring violations (including failures to use the verification system) or a criminal conviction for such a violation.

DHS shall also establish an office to (1) receive information from state and local agencies about potential hiring, recruiting, and referral violations involving unauthorized workers, and (2) investigate claims based on such information.

Nope. I have issues with SOME of that. That’s what I was asked. You’re exaggerating to the extreme. I guess that ends the conversation.

That’s not what was asked. I asked to address it, not just list off the sections you don’t like…and you made a false statement which needed to be corrected. I’m open to a conversation if you are.

(Sec. 102) This section requires the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to resume all activities related to constructing a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border that were underway or planned prior to January 20, 2021.

(Sec. 103) This section imposes additional requirements on DHS related to the construction of barriers along the U.S.-Mexico border. For example, the bill requires DHS to construct a border wall (including related infrastructure and technology) along at least 900 miles of that border, whereas currently DHS is required to have at least 700 miles of reinforced fencing along that border.

I already povided sec 115 for you above.

(Sec. 121) This section prohibits DHS from (1) issuing any COVID-19 vaccine mandate unless expressly authorized by Congress, or (2) taking any adverse action against an employee based solely on the employee's refusal to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

(Sec. 124) This section requires the Government Accountability Office to study and report to Congress on the costs incurred by states in support of the federal mission to secure the southwest border and the feasibility of reimbursing states for such costs.

No way the oil/natural gas industry of TX would let them.

The civil war talk is nonsense.

On a related note, could you ever imagine the feds allowing a state to leave the union peacefully?
Any state thinking about that would be stupid. Any disaster natural or otherwise would mean they wouldn’t get shit for aid and they shouldn’t.
