Starocci will definitely be the #1 seed at the Big Ten tournament.
Griffith at second, Kennedy at third and then Ruth 4th and Welsh 5th.
Where it makes a difference is not necessarily the Big Tens, but at NCAA’s.
When Staricci defaults out, that puts either Ruth or Welsh into the finals and the winner of Kennedy/Griffith opposite him.
If Kennedy loses again to Griffith and wins out to finish 3rd. He would finish at seed with his only loss to the Big Ten champ but behind the runner up Ruth.
At nationals, this could put Ruth ahead of Kennedy based on his finish at the Big Tens.
I think it is wrong to put someone at a seed knowing they are not going to compete. That most likely would put Sparks of Minnesota or Maylor of Wisconsin in the semifinals.
