Coronavirus...In all Seriousness...

Anybody not going to Big Tens or possibly Nationals because of Coronavirus?

We (myself and my son) are scheduled to go to the Nationals and very excited to watch Iowa bring back home the National Championship!!

But, my wife and many others have been bringing up the Coronavirus and are trying to advise myself and son to not go, because of the concern with the virus. Been counting down to this weekend and the Nationals weekend for quite some time.

I know this post will probably bring about all kinds of jokes,

But in all seriousness anybody bailing on not going because of the virus??

Just wanted to get some serious takes on the matter and what the "Cesspool" is thinking?

I did find it interesting, a person we know is scheduled to go over to Europe within a week and she cannot get a refund with Traveler's insurance. She consulted her priest and his response was "If God is ready for you, he will be ready for you!"

Can't wait until tomorrow and then Nationals!!!

Go Hawks!! Bring it home!! Bonus Points!! Bonus Points!!
Go get it Brands & Co!!!

they just stated on the local Minneapolis/St Paul news that there are only 3 reported cases of the virus in the state of Minnesota

Not true. Vit D has little or nothing to do with viral outbreaks. Last August there was a flu outbreak in Florida. Can’t be any hotter, higher humidity, or more sun than Florida in August. Maybe a bit more sun in June July in Florida.

Usually too hot and humid for people to be outside much at that time of the year so not getting a lot of natural Vit D. Air condidtioning is a WONDERFUL invention.

Just because they had a virus outbreak in the summer months does not negate studies that show Vit D helps the immune system resist infections.

Coincidence is only coincidence. Not proof of concept.

A week ago the US had 60 virus cases. Today we hit 974.

About a week and a half to go till NCAA.

So..........place your bets..........

Be safe out there.

And according to those who are following World case numbers and graphing them the US and several other European countries are about 11 1/2 days behind what Italy is experiencing. So............

Today Italy announced 977 NEW cases to bring their total to 10,149 with 168 New deaths for a running total of 631.

A lot can happen in the next 9 days before NCAA starts.

UCLA has cancelled all classes and sporting events will be spectator free until April 10th.

College dorms are just Cruise ships on land..........Yikes.......

China and Italy have the highest death rates. South Korea is less than 1% with 7000 cases reported. Demographics matter. Italy has a large retirement population, and both countries have a large number of smokers. Also China doesn't have nursing homes, their elderly are taken care of by their family, possibly more vulnerable.

In the article, they said that they spoke to the CDC who I am guessing is following things closely and they said there was no reason to cancel or modify it. We are closely getting to the point of no return $$$ wise for fans, vendors, participants etc.

When H1N1 hit in 2009-2010, estimated 60 million Americans got it with around 13K deaths. Now, I remember it being a thing but not a big deal like this is being made out to be. It was hardly a blip beyond basic reporting in the media.

What ever happens, happens. Will I be pissed off if the tournament is cancelled, yes? But you know what they say, "Better to be pissed off than pissed on". You have to look out for the safety of everyone and do what's right. Just going to have to wait and see but life goes on. Go Hawks.
Deal. I'll trade the one night with R. Kelly. 70% alcohol solution after soap and water should do the trick. Tournament on.

When you fire the head of the pandemic response team, don’t replace him, and then order no tests as to ensure low numbers, you gain the support of the very very gullible cultists.

that he calls it Wuhan virus is straight up bull and that label was created to blame China in the event it goes bad. The GOP isn’t even denying it.

hey @smalls103 .... you’re a real life Russian bot. Be proud.

hey dumbass they have 1.5 million test kits in circulation with a Coralville firm that produced them. Doesn’t take much effort to do a little research I guess it’s just easier to be an idiot

It’s called the Wuhan virus because that is where it originated, the Chinese fvcked and now people have died unnecessarily

Not one part I said in part 1 is false.

Are you denying the shift in labeling was specifically a PR move? You’d be the only one.

Willie literally quotes Russian bot accounts and theories.

yeah I’m okay with my opinion.

That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t help willie change a flat. If he was my neighbor I’d love him like my neighbor. It’s easy for me to disagree with someone’s politics and think nothing of it.

It surely means I’ll shrug my shoulders when he tries to comment about anything that requires critics thinking outside his actual scope of expertise (wrestling reporting).

They aren’t testing everyone who needs testing. No one is denying that at hospitals. Why don’t you do a little research?

as of yesterday at 4 pm, 4300 people have been tested. That’s not nearly as many as we should be testing according to doctors.

You can call me a dumbass all you want. I’ll listen to experts. You listen to what you want.

Have a good night!!

Absolutely, But You do Realize that getting upset over a relabeling of the Virus based off of its place of origin can also only be labeled a PR move....Except in your case it is because you are upset it will be harder to blame Trump. SAME THING, Just Different side of the COIN..lol

P.S. -POLITICS SUCK!!!!

Or don’t stop. Continue with politics where it doesn’t belong and prove me wrong. Mission accomplished. You are not better than that. Continue to spread opinions as facts. Knock yourself out but it’s pretty sad.

they weren’t testing because they didn’t have enough test kits, they don’t need to be overrun by everyone with a sniffle.

you are still a dumbass, keep listening to those “doctors” no one else talking about

Please for the love of everything holy show a minimal amount of restraint and keep this free of politics. There is a board for that if you must! If you can’t resist....well then you are trash.

Might be splitting hairs on word choice that Vitamin C boosts the immune system. But it is necessary to fight infections and viruses.

Currently there are 3 approved research studies going on for intravenous Vit. C administration in China.

They also produced and delivered 50 Tons.....yes Tons of Vit C to Wuhan for people to use.

Some interesting information about intravenous Vit C usage in treating viruses in some of the news release and information at

http://www.orthomolecular.org/resources/omns/index.shtml

on the drop down menu "Library" and then under News Releases.

Shanghai Government offically recommends Vitamin C for COVID-19

http://www.orthomolecular.org/resources/omns/v16n16.shtml

There is no real evidence in the medical literature that taking doses of vitamin C or D will help fight infections with the exception that one is vitamin deficient. The article you note is from orthmolecular medicine which is a non traditional medical group that was started by Linus Pauling. Their findings have been refuted in all real medical research studies. In fact large(megadoses) of vitamins ( which are recommended by Orthomolecular medicine) have been found to be unsafe.

Banjo also said he would never post about politics on here again. He's broke that promise twice.

Things can change quickly, but clearly there were not enough tests available in CA, as of a few days ago. This from SJ Mercury News on Mar 7th:

<<
Community doctors say they they don’t have test kits, and have been told to go through government health officials for testing, which can take precious time.

“We have no local testing available,” said Dr. Walter Mills, president of the California Academy of Family Physicians, which represents 11,000 doctors. “No one has been trained to do the test, as it is not available in the community.”>>

The number of new covid-19 infections cases is thought to be growing exponentially, perhaps doubling every 6 days.

Barring sudden containment or a cure coming soon, the extent of those infected could be enormous by May, which would seriously strain the health care facilities.

(because they're not testing...a lot of people with "not the flu" have been into my brother's pharmacy)
your brother has a pharmacy in Minnesota?

and doctors in Minnesota have given patients a prescription for "not the flu" and then these patients have gone to your brother pharmacist?

what does your brother prescribe to all of these patients who have "not the flu," which of course, has to be the coronavirus?

Some Iowa (Johnson County!) news March 10th:

<<
DES MOINES, Iowa (KTIV) -- Health officials in Iowa are reporting five additional cases of coronavirus, COVID-19, in eastern Iowa's Johnson County.

According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, the state now has a total of 13 presumptive positive cases.

The IDPH says the new cases are all adults between the ages of 61 to 80 years old and are from Johnson County. They were all on the same Egyptian cruise as the seven previous cases in the county.>>

Denial ain't just a river in Egypt. -Mark Twain

The pissing matches over who is unbiased and where the cases in Iowa originated seemed to make this a timely appropriate quote. If anyone is friends or relatives with the patients my apologies if an ironic quote from an iconic author is too much given the situation.

HS track meets in Iowa started getting cancelled last night and ISU sent out a letter to prepare students for online learning after spring break. As my colleged age son texted me:

I mean college kids aren’t going to not travel over spring break so it’s inevitable that things get worse and the likelyhood a case getting on each campus and spreading like wildfire is so scary I think they won’t take the chance.

After ISU's first letter yesterday, I heard that they may announce online after spring officially today, so we'll see. (My connections with the Board of Regents are about the same as they are to the inside of the wrestling room, so take it FWIW.)

This was just announced today as well, two days after they said they woudn't cancel.
