COVID lab origin no longer a “conspiracy theory”.

I have a hard time reading this post and your others in this thread and not taking them as at least a tacit endorsement that you believe the Chinese were Up To Something.
I'm saying they absolutely could have been. But I don't know. I'm not in their intelligence community, neither you, neither is anyone. Everybody just speculating about the whole damn thing. If you think it's a stretch for them to have done something like that, that's your opinion. I don't think it's much of a stretch, personally.
 
It's doubtful China would release the virus on purpose, even to cover something up.

In the last year and a half, there are no other known transfers of the virus from an animal to a human.

The Wuhan Lab was conducting gain-of-function testing. There is much quibbling over that term, but there's no quibbling about the research at Wuhan on SARS-Cov-2 in bats, and how or if the virus could be transmitted to humans. Pros and cons discussed in the link below.
