Curtis Jones transfer

You think? Just curious as to why? They advertise, which means its probably mostly true, the largest data base, the most scouts and the most analysts. They lean to important media programs but so do Rivals and 247.

I've read that 247 provides a composite of where AAU coaches want to see their guys play. Have no independent way of knowing that to be true. Rivals seems just weird. Used to follow it closely but quit because they seemed to even more biased against places like Iowa than ESPN and farther off on a lot of players. Didn't have a ton of information on the players.

However, I'm open to change. I do not like ESPN as a company. Abandoning ESPN wouldn't hurt my feelings at all.

They give out 4 stars like candy.

They had Toussaint as a 4 star at the #38 pg.

When other programs that are equal to or inferior to Iowa are more successful in this space, what else can I assume? Graduate transfers aren't a silver bullet but when Iowa has had gaping holes on the roster while rolling Dailey, Ellingson, etc., out there with minimal returns, it would seem to scream upgrade to even the casual observer.

Fran considers this "free agency" and isn't a fan so how motivated do you think he is to bring a graduate transfer in to show up one of his "guys"?. When it becomes about the team and not Fran's ego, I will gladly compliment him for getting outside of the box.

Transfers are like other recruits, they have to fit and have to want to attend a school. If they like another school better they will play there. If a player does not want to play for Iowa, the coach may reach out but not get them.

I am sure if a good player that wants to play at Iowa ,Fran would take them.

The 4* total is usually around 120. I've noted the incongruity between ESPN's national rankings and their positional rankings. My guess is two different groups are doing the positional and national grades.

For my part, and I think this view depends on one's view of the game, I do not give the positional rankings much weight. I think a good player is a good player and we'll find a place to play them.

We have a grad transfer on campus now through Saunday that is on an official visit. Does Evelyn not count?

Of course he counts and good job to Fran for landing him. It's not that hard to plug holes with kids who can contribute. I don't know much about the kid but from his highlights I suspect people will be surprised what an impact a guy with his skill set will have on the team. This from a a kid playing at a low mid-major.

I don’t think Valpo was really a “low mid major” under Bryce Drew.
