Cyclones Beat TCU on the Road

ISU won on a Kalschuer 3 with 1.5 seconds. He was 1-6 on the day from 3.
As much as that loss against Iowa sucked (and it did...and it was a beatdown) since that game it kind of lit a fire with these guys. Playing with a lot of toughness and grit. Without Jaz I thought if we could get ONE of the first three games (ranked Baylor at home then @OU and @ top 20 TCU) I would have been happy. And we got all three. Gonna be a lot of one possession games in the league.

I come to the Iowa Bball board for Clown news.

Thanks.

It's the clowns who cares unless they are playing Iowa, nothing would be better than them losing every game they ever play.
The only thing better would be if they were booted to D3, were forced to change their name so it no longer included the word Iowa, or ceased to exist at all and ames and the clown school are erased from everyone’s memory and all texts. **** ames.

losing to EIU and getting the crap beat out of them by nebraska damaged our NET beyond repair
Since I know Iowa fans love to use Ken Pom rankings, just want to point out that all 10 schools from the Big 12 are in his top 35. Iowa is #52, almost 20 spots below the WORST team in the BIg 12.

I'm shocked it's that high

Ya know what's better than Ken Pom rankings? Results of actual games as in 75 - 56.

I might be careful going that route considering the largest upset since they started keeping stats. Being a 31 point favorite and then losing by 10 at home kind smashes your “better than Ken Pom” narrative

and ISU was 20 points worse than one of the worst teams in the BIG, who also happened to be playing without their best player...So what's your point? Rankings obviously mean nothing.

also looked at head-to-head competition between the two leagues. 4-4. Does not seem to me to be much of a difference. Take away the biggest cheater in college sports (Bill Self) and the Big 12 a good league, but nothing special.

Unless you take into consideration that the B12 has won the last two Nattys, been in the title game 3 years running, and participated in the last four Final 4s. I realize that may not seem special but the B10 hasn’t won a title in over 20 years.

I was thinking about this. Maybe EIU was to Iowa what Iowa was to ISU. An embarrassing loss can change a team's mindset in terms of focus and effort. Iowa will never be a great defensive team under Fran, but that debacle showed everyone that a lack of effort and emphasis on that aspect of the game has gone on too long and was responsible for one of the biggest upsets in decades. One of the biggest upsets in Iowa history. That has to leave a mark.

Rankings, especially the NET, are extremely valuable at the end of the year when seeding and making the NCAA tournament. The Big 12 has a major advantage there, largely because even losing won't hurt these teams terribly much in the NET rankings. As it currently stands, ISU has 13 more Q1 games out of 16. I hope ISU wins them all but they probably only need to win 5 or 6 more of them to make the tourney which is very helpful.

Regarding the head to heads, just don't think that's terribly meaningful considering the matchups. I certainly don't think it's more meaningful than the ACC/Big 10 challenge this year, which the ACC won, but the ACC is clearly a worse conference than the Big 10, it's not even close.

Take away Bill Self and Kansas, and the Big 12 has an average KenPom rating of 27.3, compared to 49.2 for the Big Ten.

The lowest ranked team in the Big 12, Texas Tech, is ranked higher than the Big Ten average.
