Not to be a jerk, but I think some of us on the board could beat Ybarra for the spot.
Ybarra is definitely quick. Looks like he needs a little more strength

I would think he destroys Ybarra compared to how Ybarra is wrestling right now.
Tarps biggest accomplishments were being able to sustain getting his ass kicked and writing about it. Ybarra just doesn’t have the blog.
I though Ybarra looked pretty good tonight. A lot of that riding time for Barnett was gained when Ybarra all but had a reversal. He lost 4-0 to a returning AA that is ranked 7th in the country. It was his 5th D1 match.
Part of me is happy with the way he wrestled and the fact he was able to not give up bonus points against a top 10 guy.
A bigger part of me is frustrated that he didn't even attempt to win with less than a minute to go and only down 3. I would've rather him fire off some shots and make an effort than just be ok holding on for a moral victory. Even if he would've given up another TD or two because of it, at least we could be pleased with his effort

No way. Ybarra wasn’t so much as born when Tarp was at Iowa. Not a chance he was beating Tarp then. Ovum Ybarra Would have been way too undersized.
I was making a joke. I was also complimenting how tough that room was and still is. Getting your butt kicked in the Iowa room isn’t an insult, for most of us former wrestlers it’s a fact of life.
Ironside did say that Ayala was warming up before the meet and looked really good and strong.
Ybarra looks like he might be pretty quick wiping the mats with some towels to clean off the sweat.......
a couple slide bys and at least one other shot in the third. only takedown was off of a shot initiated by Jesse. Ws wrestler never did shoot…defensive only in the third. only offense attempts were Jesse’s

If 118 was a weight class Ybarra would be fine. He is giving up at least 5-7 pounds. Jessie stopped growing. Hell, he projected 133, 141 coming out of High School, He is a good recruit. As Brands said, he needs to find his switch and put some more muscle on.

I think everyone is being a little hard on Ybarra. I thought he looked decent today. Also he looks way undersized to me. You can tell he’s reluctant to get trapped underneath these full size 125s like hildebrant who is enormous and Barnet is also large. He needs some type of swing single attack so he can be offensive without being overpowered.
Easy guys most on here wouldn't have made it 1 day in Iowa room in our prime or now. Ybarra goes to practice everyday and puts in the work. Respect the sport and stop being stupid
Proof is in the pudding . Very few get to put on the Iowa singlet and step onto the mat in front of 14k fans.
That alone, makes him a badass.
