Jesse just needs to get in street fight frame of mind a little bit. He obviously is very athletic, just trust your ability and get after it.

I wish I was on a bender. I am currently abstaining from alcohol since I had neck surgery 10 days ago (that will also delay my upcoming match with Tarp). Maybe the PSU board got me fired up but frankly I have never really liked Tarp (I know this will get his fan club in here simpin for him) and his post taking unnecessary jabs at a third string true freshman just irked me. I still think he is a douche (and based on the number of likes my posts got calling him out I am not the only one) but I will refrain from posting that in the future as my opinion on this matter is abundantly clear.
I think we all would like to see him let it fly. The last minute needed leg attacks. Getting taken down off one wasn't going to change anything.
Ha, well... actually... I suffered my neck injury last February and tried to get injections to treat it instead of having surgery right away. Well, the injections didn't work and ended up having surgery this year. So, if you ignore the massive differential in wrestling talent maybe Spencer and I do have a little in common.
Completely agree. I sometimes forget how critical mindset is for a wrestler.
My son has been an above average wrestler since he started wrestling 4 years ago. This year he wrestled last years state champ twice and got stuck in the first period both times and it wasn’t even as close as that sounds 😂. When he was to wrestle him again 3 weeks ago I told him to make it a street fight and don’t be timid. He was the aggressor and made him earn everything. He ended up getting teched in the third, but since then the mindset stuck. He has pinned his last 10 opponents and 9 of them in the first period. Just yesterday he had the returning 3rd place state finisher in his bracket. That kid got 4th in a 4 man round robin. My son pinned all 3 of them. With his old mindset he most likely gotten last but just one simple mindset change has him wrestling immeasurably better.
Heres to hoping something can click for Jesse also!
I’m guessing TnT rarely tell a guy NOT to go balls to the wall. I can’t imagine they ever ask a wrestler to not give up bonus points pre match. That would be messed up, imo. They expect to win EVERY match.

I'm thinking about cutting to 114.5 pounds for freestyle nationals this year. Penrith suggested it yesterday after practice. He says he thinks I'm not quite physical enough for 125.5 but that I would be a threat at 114.5.

Great, again, not aimed at El Dub. And, that doesn't discount the fact that not all Olympians are created equal, and doesn't define success more than Jesse winning Who's Number One in my book. As you can see, Tarp also admits to losing a lot. Several Olympians failed to make the starting line-up at Iowa at some point (Dan Dennis, Gilman, Mike Zadick) and another Olympian (Amine) recently lost to a freshman in the NCAA finals...and Micic and so on....it's not rarified air.
