He very clearly does care and it does bother him. He was getting into it with PSU fans. He’s deactivated social. He definitely cares or is atleast bothered by it

Interesting that Wanderlei Silva and Kamaru Usman used Cael Sanderson to help train for MMA. Some combat sport world champions seem to know who Sanderson is and are willing to pay to work with him.
I don't find that interesting at all. Let's just talk about the Hawkeyes.
Not caring about what fans think is DRASTICALLY different than constantly being heckled from only a few feet away. No human being stands up to that for very long. Hell, we had the Indiana Pacers run up into stands to have a full-on melee.....

I usually think you have some good takes, but I have to disagree with you on this one. Cael is an absolute legend in this sport, and his name is known internationally. His freestyle career wasn't very long, but he made his mark and brought home the top prize. No argument will ever convince me that Olympic gold does not prove greatness. And world silver is nothing to shit on. He was a legendary competitor and is becoming a legendary coach, whether we Iowa fans like it or not. You cannot call his accomplishments a nothing burger if you have any respect for this sport.
Yeah, nothing burger was pretty dumb to say. Being the best in the world at something (especially wrestling, tough sport ) is obviously not a nothing burger.
An Olympic gold medal and world silver is an AMAZING accomplishment. Pretty exclusive club.
I guess my thinking is that compared to the top freestyle wrestlers currently and historically, his world individual freestyle accomplishments are far down the list compared to the greats.

He's actually not well known internationally. As said earlier his accomplishments are way down the list and he doesn't corner most the guys from the nlwc who wrestle at the World Championship or Olympic Games.
