Does Iowa fear Bert?

Has no one told Bielema about the success of Nebraska 30 years ago? Nebraska should probably fear him, they may have the cellar in the West all to themselves.

The biggest mistake Debbie made was hiring Frost instead of Bielema. Bielema knows what it takes to win in the BiG and Frost is more suited for the Big 12. As far as Iowa, BB will probably put a dent in Iowa's Illinois recruiting somewhat. BB will make the west a real slobberknocker if he builds another version of Wisconsin.

I think Bielema’s teams will be a tough out but it’s hopefully more parts good than bad for iowa. Bielema will take it to NW hopefully and on a related note were bielema and fitzgerald peers as players? Also i have a feeling bielema versus frost will be enjoyable games as well.

Berts a different man now. He’s cleaned up his act and even lost a ton of weight. I think you are going to see a very committed football coach.
Big illini fan now? I totally get it. You're sick of cheering for the basement dwellers

I don’t really believe he has proven anything yet.
He stepped into a pat hand at WI then ended up looking like a horses azz at ARK.
Time will tell but his upside at ILL is probably around 500

Barry Alvarez was far more instrumental for Wisky’s success than Bert.
Yeah ... I've always ascribed to that perspective. Barry always had a pretty firm grip on the reins of the football program (even as an AD). That was arguably a contributing reason why Andersen left the program ... even though his teams were winning. Barry had been a constant for that program ... thank goodness he's finally retiring!

As for Brett coaching the Illini ... he certainly knows the B1G. He's also a pretty good recruiter. However, compared to his earlier years ... he's probably viewed a little bit more as a "has been" these days ... so I wonder if he'll still be able to recruit at the same clip.

Lastly, there is a big difference from the situation Brett had at Wisconsin ... inheriting a program that had a "winning culture" and had a blue-collar work-ethic ... as compared to the Illini ... a program that is rather far-removed from the old days when they once had a respectable football program. Lovie Smith is a fine coach ... and it took Lovie a while to rebuild the culture for the Illini. I'll be curious as to what the culture will look like for the Illini under Brett. I honestly have no idea what to expect.

give Bert credit where credit is due. He took Wisconsin to heights Barry couldn’t. They haven’t been as good prior to or since Bert was in charge.

Yeah minus that 2017 season where they had their best record ever and went 13-1 and finished 6/7th in the nation.

New heights? Please elaborate .... your comment smacks of hyperbole.

Brett did well for the Badgers ... but to say that he surpassed Barry ... umm ... it really didn't appear that way.

So on flip side would you say Scott frost has taken Nebraska to the lows they haven’t been since prior to him? 3 losing and bowl less seasons.
