Does this slow, unimaginative, rigormortis offense suck the life out of the entire team?!?

Yes.

Hence why MVB and Nick Easley are your starting wide receivers. Nothing personal against them, I'm sure they are great kids and they definitely get the most out of their talent, but they are not go-to P5 wide receivers; they are 3rd down, slot receivers.

I'm guessing Wadley has been wrestling daily with his decision to return for his senior year.

Ask yourself what a high school skill position player must think. This is important for recruiting, and it just so happens Iowa sucks at both offense and recruiting skill position players. Hmmm.

I have actually thought this would be a way to sell ourselves to high end tight ends. Which we have, unfourtuanly we have had a combination of not enough time, drops, and 200mph passes which had affected them.

Teams that don't play well always look like the life has been sucked out of them.

USC looked like that yesterday. Michigan looked like it. Purdue looked like it. Maryland looked like it. Texas Tech looked like it, Illinois, etc...

It's so easy to sit here on a message board and label something we mostly know very little about from the frame of mind of the players and teams involved that we're watching.

Uh no, Kirk's offense often looks lifeless even when we win. Watch many games?

It does piss me off to end that our coaches always preach attack attack attack in terms of physicality and mindset but then hide behind their conservatism as a coaching staff.. Something happened internally from that ISU game until now with BF and his play calling and its not good.. not good at all!

Seems to be very little life and toughness to our team and I think our lifeless offensive strategy is to blame. It just lulls everyone to sleep.
Good chance. You may be onto something.I seem to buy and drink more rolling rock.ALWAYS now tastes warm, huh?

You mean the strategy to use as much clock between plays so that no momentum carries over to the next play? Or do you mean the strategy of using as much clock as possible between plays so that the opposing defense can remain rested, get 10 guys into position within the box, and perfectly read the play that's coming based on the formation? Or is it the strategy to use the same plays in the same sequence for almost a decade so that opposing teams can get to know the O even better than our current coaches? Or do you mean the magic of running up the middle endlessly and then missing most of the time on the occasional deep ball, the two Iowa throws per game? Or is it ...

Another issue is developing other plays. I'm sure BF went into this season as we will dominate the run game and we'll do it with these sets of plays. Sure, there are some wrinkles to install weekly, but overhauling the scheme mid season to adapt to what's really going on is near impossible at this stage. I bet there's some parts BF wishes he would've worked on more in August, but that's hindsight for ya.

you people need to read my post on comparing the 2016 season to this years season but for a quick look
the passing game has increase by 69+ ypg
Wadley has increaseased his total ypg avg by 12 ypg
Fant thru 7 games is on pace to pass what Kittle had in 13 games.

strange how this years team is so far ahead of the 2016 seasons numbers.

Stranger still, is how they can't beat their way out of a wet paper bag.

yah...his offense scored to many points...that's what happened.

The best analogy I can come up with is baseball. Offense under KF is like stepping up to the plate with an 0-2 count. The pitcher has a huge advantage and even an average pitcher will fare well being up 0-2. Thus we make average defenses look all world because the most innovative thing KF has done in 19 years is the tiger hawk at the 50.

Wow, our backup running back from last year is (barely) averaging more yards per game this year, now that he is the starting running back this year?
No kidding. Good stat. Great Analysis. I never would have seen that coming.

Lashun Daniels has a lot to do with this.

but you are ignoring Daniels who also had over 1000 yards rushing and the fact that this years #2 RB in Butler has been out with a injury and Butler came in with over 1300 yards rushing and 350 yards receiving, that was a huge blow to the offense, without Daniels and Butler Wadley has a big bullseye on him and defenses are selling out to stop Wadley but hey lets not let facts get in the way of trashing the coaches,

before Butler was hurt he had 36 carries for 158 yards since then RSFR Young has carried the ball 29 times for 114 yards and FR Kelly-Martin has carried the ball 14 times for 94 yards.
Young and IKM will be #1 and #1a as the options at the RB Position with neither of them having that bullseye on them.

Young @ 5'11 220 lbs will be the brusing RB that Iowa is missing. this is what Daniels brought last year and what Butler was going to bring this season.

Wadley is a out in space type of threat but due to injuries he has been put into the position of a every down back which means running between the tackles. do I like it no but I also know I have no say in the matter. so I just go game to game and watch the FR/RSFR grow and get better.

I also saw a pair of FR Tackle get called for false starts at the worst times possible. as well as a pair of 1st year starters have crucial drops at the worst possible times that played a key role in that loss.

I prefer to call it the most excitingly boring offense in the country. It sounds cooler & makes me feel better to describe it as that.

one more thing there are more 3 WR sets being used than I expected out of BF in his 1st year. also 13 different player have at least 1 reception
4 WR's
3 TE's
4 RB's
1 FB and DE Epenesa has 1 catch. looks pretty spread out to me and a more varied offense than what has been done in the past.

Iowa offense has a LOFT problem, especially on the outside.
A schematic change would help, but it would be shocking to see them go away from the "Ferentz" game plan.
Thank God the D is strong - I'm just hoping at this point they reach a bowl game
