If you consider the cost of peace is completely selling out Ukraine and giving Putin everything he wants, I would say he will have failed miserably.

I gave him credit when he first claimed there was a cease fire. Only it wasn’t a cease fire. I take away all that credit and assign negative points for manipulating the truth.
He will get credit if HE brings the war to a conclusion in a way that is satisfactory for the Ukrainian victims of Putin’s atrocities. But right now he is selling out our ally in favor of an enemy, so it seems unlikely he will contribute to a just peace.

No, because there is no reason we should be involved unless we have a benefit.
If, there was a clear understanding that the US could enrich our country ( there could be a backdoor deal that is not public) through complete control of the Ukraine mineral rights I would say kudos, get that money.
We as taxpayers have spent far too much money on military aid without getting a clear understanding of how it benefits the taxpayer

How does aligning us closer with Russia benefit the US. Has an economy less the size of Texas. We’re alienating most of are allies which we hold strong defense and long term economic interests.
