Or he just wants to wrestle like previous senior level guys that have entered the tournament. He is already in the area visiting his fiance's family for the holidays. It's not like he is making a special trip to Chicago to wrestle. Whether your a fan of his or not him being there is going to create a buzz (which it already did).

When Taylor was in college I couldn't stand him. Now he's becoming one of my favs. I sure hope he can beat Dake when it counts.
Personally don't care who wins between DT and Dake as long as winner can win/place high at Worlds and Olympic events.
With the new near fall scoring, DT will tech the field , could be amusing .
He wont tech Sam Brooks. And if Dake enters, he will lose.
If Brooks wrestled DT and actually took shots, yes, it would be very ugly. We are talking about David freakin Taylor vs Sam Brooks.
Nick Moore managed to score a takedown and keep it to a Major when they wrestled in the Big 10 finals Taylors SR year I believe, I'd say its fair to think that Brooks wouldn't get teched, considering nobody has teched or pinned him in official college matches yet. (He was teched as a RS at midlands in 2012-2013)
New rules and Taylor is well beyond his senior year level. No disrespect to Brooks. Taylor is that dynamic as we all know. Best wishes ahead

No WAY should you want Taylor to beat Dake. It's hard enough to recruit against Bael and his crew. Could you imagine if he had a Olympic team member/medalist??
DT will make Brooks look like a floor mop. I like Brooks and DT not so much. But realism is real.
I realize the transitive property doesn't apply in wrestling in all scenarios, just trying to stick up for our guy a bit. Anybody who watched the matches between an injured Brooks and Dean last year saw they were razor thin and Sammy was right there with him. The same Dean who beat Ed Ruth and wrestled him tough every single time. Ed Ruth is at least on the same level as DT (barring the recent freestyle match, I don't think it was indicative of anything really). Not saying Brooks is on their level, he clearly isn't, but Brooks can compete with the best at this point in his career, and I don't think he'll get teched or pinned.
Though he is a sometimes wild wrestler and DT can capitalize on any little mistake for big bonus points. I'll gladly eat my crow if DT wipes the mat with him.
I disagree. I doubt anybody wipes the mat with a healthy Sam Brooks. Just my opinion and I will also eat crow if I am wrong.
I think it's all about how Brooks approaches it...if he tries to just keep it close then I think he can and will - if he opens it up and lets it fly then it could cause some separation in the score but it's the only way he has a shot at a win in my opinion.
The irony hasn't been lost on me that Stanley is a brand of tool.
Brooks isn't going to go out there to keep it close. He will go out there to kick magic kids ass. Brooks might just tech him for having such a stupid nickname.
I think DT had regular decisions against DSJ and Evans. I don't remember the Moore match.
I know that match isn't supposed to effect rankings, but if Brooks won, it would be difficult to ignore. I can't bet against Sammy!
Sammy has to take care of business first. If he wins enough, he'll face Taylor at some point, cause Taylor isn't losing IMO.
I definitely cannot see Brooks giving 2 shits who and what David Taylor is, so he'll give him all he's got I believe, and yes, that will likely cost him. But he has zero chance of winning sitting back and letting Taylor pick him apart. If he can get in close and employ his underhooks and inside trips and what-not, he will. Easier said than done of course, but I have little doubt he'll try.
All that said, Taylor is in new found territory with some boys that are "bigger" than him, he could definitely find himself in a situation not to his liking from a brute force standpoint. I have little doubt Sammy Brooks will try to get there, not sure if others in the bracket have the forward always mentality that Brooks does, guess we'll see. I fully expect Taylor to win this tournament, I'd be stunned if he doesn't, but if we want to see how Brooks fares against him, he has to be beating some other really good guys to get there (depending on the draw of course).

In his career against Iowa wrestlers, he had two tech falls over Moore (18-2 and 15-0), two majors over Moore (14-5 and 12-3), one major apiece over Evans (11-2) and St. John (12-4), two regular decisions over St. John (6-3 and 8-3) and one regular decision over Evans (9-4).
I'd love for you to right and me wrong. I also thought DT would beat Dake. Didn't happen. That said Brooks is not on the same level as those two, argue if you want. I like Brooks just don't like his chances against a much more seasoned DT. I would love to see Brooks keep it close, but he may not even get that opportunity. I don't like the idea of DT competing, its a man against boys.

Brooks gets double unders, fakes going to the legs, and hits a headlock for the pin. This would then rank as a great win, but not one of the greatest of all time.
It was amusing watching Taylor back out of Brooks under hooks.
Each guy took 3 shots a piece. DT beat Brooks 7-2. Was far from being very ugly and "David freakin Taylor" only won by 5 points. You were spot on though.
