Dubuque private school raises tuition by 58% after voucher expansion

That's not true!
It is. We have a severe and profound student whose parents want him to attend the local private school. He requires a 1:1 nurse during the school day. They are refusing to take him.

We've spent over $25k on him just this year, which of course we won't receive the funding for. That's the difference between public and private schools in a nutshell.

Let’s be real. None of these private schools are taking in good students from poor families. They’re jacking up tuition and bringing in athletes or whatever choir/band department that the school takes the most pride in lol.

My experience in NJ was that private school tuition was anywhere from 10k to 30k. Most students were either from wealthy families, or top athletes who would bring attention to the school. So when people advocated for a $2k voucher it clearly wouldn’t open opportunities to anyone, but was just a $2k gift to the rich, while sucking funds away from public schools.

It’s so obvious, and the motives so transparent, it’s almost like people are flaunting how they can pass any law no matter how harmful it is to the public good.

Except, kids aren’t being given that choice. Private schools are quite adept at refusing entry to many kids who want a dose of religion in the curriculum. Turns out Christ doesn’t like cripples, the mentally challenged, and poors.
You forgot to include the blacks and the browns - unless they’re good at basketball or football, of course.

Why would the private school want to accept a student who will undoubtedly disrupt the learning process for other students. Some of these special needs kids scream and moan the whole school day. They are incapable of keeping up with the classroom learning environment and in most cases just sent to school so the parents can have a break.

Parents send their kids to private school to get away from these distractions, people like you want to water down the private school environment so that it is as bad as the public schools.

Any school that takes public money should have to educate every student - no matter the cost. That's what makes our education system so great.

And he's a great kid who is not disruptive at all. I know you're purposely playing the role of a troll but disparaging disabled kids simply isn't funny.

So sez you. LOL

The private school should not have to deal with the student in your example. It simply makes no sense.

Just keep paying your taxes and let parents decide where their little children can be best educated.

It amazes me that the left abuses their opportunities then complains when the people push back. If the leftists wouldn’t have pushed DEI, gender BS, racial preferences, etc. the voucher issue wouldn’t even have been a factor.

Can you explain why that same child shouldn't have to be educated by a private institution if they're receivng public funds?

Everyone pays taxes for a free appropriate public education. If you want your kids to be indoctrinated by the church that's fine, but no public money should be spent to do so.
LOL - The ship has sailed on that, school choice paid for by the State is the law of the land.

You should be more concerned with fixing the broken public schools in Iowa and maybe just maybe parents will give the public schools a second chance.

If the parents can find a private school that is equipped to handle the kid more power to them. However, a private school doesn't have to accept a student they are not equipped to handle.

BTW your President has taken federal tax money to forgive student loans and many of those colleges wouldn't accept the student you are advocating for. In fact, some of those colleges were very, very selective in who they would allow through their hallowed halls.

You're acknowledging that the scam described as "school choice" is really "school's choice" which is the crux of the issue.

What's hilarious is you're too stupid to realize it.

LOL - It's the parents' choice however, many private schools have a waiting list of families wanting to get their child enrolled. Most private schools are not equipped to handle a fulltime drooler who only moans and screams all class and has the mental capacity of a potato. The parents who send their students to private school does it for the academic atmosphere sticking a drooler in the classroom simply robs the other students of academic proficiency.

No, it's not. It's the complete choice of the school and it goes far, far beyond excluding those with mental or physical disabilities.

You're a moron.

You’re de facto admitting that the school choice by conceding they don’t have to accept everyone.

That's why it's called a private school, they aren't going to accept someone with behavior problems or someone who obviously can't keep up with their classmates. I support them 110% on this.
You apparently don't see the contradiction when saying it's the parent's choice. It's not. Private schools can say no to ANYONE they don't want to admit.

What an absolute scam. But we already knew that and Iowa Republicans simply don't care.
Republicans dont care, sure they care that this works for them so they can end up with white segregated private schools in Iowa many of which are also segregating by religion. This is a money grab and a white racist segragation issue. Very low by the repubs to have a bill where someone with no training or education in teaching can open up a shop, I mean learning academy, for as little as 6 students.

But hey you can screen out the people you dont want

Iowa used to be second to none, then this voucher thing happened.
The voucher "thing" came to be because of how bad the Iowa Public Schools have become. If the Iowa Public Schools were second to none nobody would be demanding vouchers. The teachers, administrators, and unions have ruined public education in Iowa.

Put down the wokers guide to talking points.

Why is this a scam? We pay taxes to educate our kids, why does that education have to be provided by the government?
I noticed you did your typical recitation of catch words and avoided the subject matter, which is the taxpayers being scammed. Kim put no controls into her bill that would keep schools from raising rates, or to provide proper accounting.

Lol. I love how you're completely contradicting yourself within a matter of posts.

"School choice is the law of the land!"

...."except if you're special ed or disabled, of course!"

Again, I know you're intentionally being a heel on this site, but you can let the schtick go once in a while. It's not funny when you're making fun of kids.
