Morehouse/Dochterman mentioned on their podcast that Iowa City is in play, and that ESPN contacted the AD about possible locations. BTN Tailgate is broadcasting from Hubbard Park the same morning.

Stanford/Oregon is the biggest challenger, and Bear tweeted or mentioned something that they're leaning towards a "home town" team, referring to Herbstreit broadcasting Stanford/Oregon and that makes them more likely to Gameday that game.

So, sounds like not a strong chance, but a chance.

My thought: I won't shed a tear if Gameday doesn't bring their parade into town. Just WIN baby

If I were gameday and I knew they were going to put me across the river FAR from the stadium, I'd go elsewhere 100% of the time.

My guess is if Stanford or Oregon get upset they want to have a backup.

Are you a player? Or coach?

You do realize the only people who can't overlook games are players and coaches, right?
I assumed the “let’s worry about UNI first” by its very nature implied the players and coaches, not the fans. Just like when someone writes “we” and “us” I don’t assume they were on the field of play.

So then why post on a fan board where it's only fans and not players or staff telling everyone to not overlook the next opponent? Obviously no one on here wants the team to overlook UNI, but there is absolutely no connection to this thread and the actual game...

Huh?
What do fans talking about Game Day vs Wisc have to do with the players and coaches this week?

Neither one is gonna get upset unfortunately. Oregon has done nothing deserving of being ranked besides blowing out two crap schools. Iowa had a better 2017 and won its bowl game while Oregon lost. It’s pretty dumb that they are ranked and Iowa is not after Iowa beat a P5 school last week.

I would say the factors Stanford-Oregon have going for it:

1. Autzen
2. Bryce Love
3. Checking the box for a Pac12 game
4. Ranked teams (however arguable it is)
5. ABC

What Wisconsin-Iowa has:

1. Kinnick
2. Jonathan Taylor
3. Haven't been to Iowa in quite some time (2006?)
4. Battle for the Big Ten West

Unfortunately I think that #3 and #5 for Stanford-Oregon really trump everything else considering they still have Wisconsin-Michigan, Wisconsin-PSU, Michigan-OSU, OSU-PSU, and most importantly they are doing an OSU game this week.

I would love to have gameday again because I was a student in 2006 and it was an amazing atmosphere (despite the game itself). I really don't think it's in the cards, unfortunately.

Why discuss anything here then

Add "The Wave" to the list, if Iowa gets Gameday over Oregon-Stanford that'll probably be the biggest factor.

Shoot, good call I forgot that and yes that is a big non-football factor. Don't think Oregon has anything like that going for it.

Oregon has been a part of Gameday 22 times, hosting 9. They obviously love Autzen and I do think ABC carrying the game is the biggest trump card.

As a fairly traditional man, I’d prefer Gameday not come for this game. Children and impressionable people across the country need not see Connie lift her skirt on the 22nd.

When the Big Ten crew was live for the.... 2015 Minnesota(?) game, they were located just NW of Melrose/Hawkins.

Gameday would be better situated outside Kinnick, then wasting away at Hubbard Park.

I never told anyone not to discuss anything

"Let's worry about beating UNI first" isn't exactly encouraging further Game Day discussion!

joey you're kinda digging yourself in a bigger and bigger hole here.
Bottom line is fans can talk all they want about any game ever with zero impact on actual game.

Hubbard Park is just about the only place they could hold it, and given that is already booked by BTN/Fox, I wouldn't count on them being in Iowa City next weekend.

@Penn State on is more likely on October 27th, especially if both teams are undefeated

I know most of you are saying you don't care about having Game Day, but if you think about it from a recruiting aspect, your university basically has the biggest exposure in the country for that day. Recruits watch game day, and it is an awesome thing to have.
