ESPN Gameday is possible for Wisky game

I always love the justification for not wanting Gameday because Iowa has never won when it's been in Iowa City. Guess what Iowa has lost big games when Gameday hasn't been here too.

I know most of you are saying you don't care about having Game Day, but if you think about it from a recruiting aspect, your university basically has the biggest exposure in the country for that day. Recruits watch game day, and it is an awesome thing to have.

For sure it's always better to have it than not, in my opinion. Especially since we'll have David Bell in town, it could be a huge recruiting tool as you mention.

I hope they get it, and I am a Nebraska Fan. I just want every team in the conference to be good. I am sooooo tired of the SEC.

I'm pretty tired of retread locations. I mentioned earlier they they've been to Oregon 9 times, I would guess at least half those in the last 10 years.

I know not all stadiums and experiences are amazing, but they should at least try to get to most P5 campuses every 5 years to spread the wealth.

"Let's worry about beating UNI first" isn't exactly encouraging further Game Day discussion!

joey you're kinda digging yourself in a bigger and bigger hole here.
Bottom line is fans can talk all they want about any game ever with zero impact on actual game.
You are quoting someone else

Exactly, when that show first came out, it was awesome all the places they would go. Now in the off season you can almost preschedule where they will be based on past seasons.

Dammit! I have to agree with a Husker fan on an issue.
I feel dirty.

Well then, thanks for helping out friend! Now go get your shine box.

No problem! Just thankful we were able to get word to the team in time!

I just have to wonder if we would have known this over the last several seasons how many other losses we could have prevented. Really makes you think, huh?

Are you seriously going to keep at this? WTF is your problem? I agreed with someone, unless you’re an absolute moron it was easy to see what both of us posted was just casual statements. Now your pretty pink panties are in a bunch over it. Let it go princess.

Sorry, didn't mean to upset you. I was seriously just concerned that my talk of Gameday with my fellow hawk fans was a distraction in this UNI thread.

So back to the actual topic...

I haven't been back for a game in a few years, but would it ever be considered to have the Gameday set near the Kinnick statue? It looks like that's mainly parking so assuming donors wouldn't want to give up their space for the ESPN? That would be the perfect location.

What Wisconsin-Iowa has:

1. Kinnick
2. Jonathan Taylor
3. Haven't been to Iowa in quite some time (2006?)
4. Battle for the Big Ten West

Unfortunately I think that #3 and #5 for Stanford-Oregon really trump everything else considering they still have Wisconsin-Michigan, Wisconsin-PSU, Michigan-OSU, OSU-PSU, and most importantly they are doing an OSU game this week.

I would love to have gameday again because I was a student in 2006 and it was an amazing atmosphere (despite the game itself). I really don't think it's in the cards, unfortunately.

Your #2 in favor of Iowa City could as well read "J. Taylor/UW O-line VS close-fisted Iowa Defense"

The way both parties are looking so far, that headline itself is shaping up to be pretty attractive to even pedestrian fans.

I can't see gameday coming to town. I'm not sure how cool it really is unless the rankings and stakes are super high. It is an important game but not a nationally relevant one...yet. To touch upon what others have been writing, let's just take it one game at a time, win and get the offense rolling.

How about the top floor of the children’s hospital?

No.

Have you ever been up there? It's small

I'm not even going to get into the fact that it's a damn hospital, there are sick and dying kids there, and bringing game day into that environment wouldn't be good for anyone .

I volunteer there 2-3 games a year, have been up there when tv crews come in and it's a disaster . It stresses everyone out .

Hubbard Park is just about the only place they could hold it, and given that is already booked by BTN/Fox, I wouldn't count on them being in Iowa City next weekend.

@Penn State on is more likely on October 27th, especially if both teams are undefeated
How is Hubbard park the only place they could hold it? Fake news

Stanford/Oregon is the biggest challenger, and Bear tweeted or mentioned something that they're leaning towards a "home town" team, referring to Herbstreit broadcasting Stanford/Oregon and that makes them more likely to Gameday that game.

I don’t get this “home town”/Herbie thing here. Can someone here explain?

Prerequisites for consideration include:

Both Wisconsin and Iowa win tomorrow and
the total points scored in each game exceed 13.

If game day is in ic they gotta fly Herbie and Fowler back out to Oregon after show but that is probably very doable because Oregon is 2 hours behind iowa

Just Herbie. Fowler isn't on Gameday any more, but he does announce the Saturday night game.

How often does gameday pick the prime time game on Fox? Seemed unlikely from the start. Had it been an ABC game, I bet they would’ve been here.

I would say the factors Stanford-Oregon have going for it:

1. Autzen
2. Bryce Love
3. Checking the box for a Pac12 game
4. Ranked teams (however arguable it is)
5. ABC

I think the Wave is a bigger factor than you think — Tom Rinaldi would have a magnificent story.

I know they’ve held Gameday inside Camp Randall Stadium before, so doing it in the South EndZone, for example isn’t out of the question.

It will probably be in Oregon again next week. That is most likely. Very slim chance it will be in Iowa City.
