Fight at end of Kansas / Kansas State game

I heard Jay Bilas' take on this today, and I agree with him.

The late steal was "unnecessary"(just let KU run out the clock)

The block was "unnecessary"(just let the KSU player get the layup, and go home).

The rest was "unacceptable"

None of this happens if DeSilvo doesnt stand over him, taunt him, and most likely say a few unkind words.

I expect the punishment(s) to be less, not more. It will be interesting to see how the KU Administration and the Big 12 Conference responds. In a weird kind of way, this reminds me of Bob Knight and Indiana at the end of his tenure there. BK had gotten to a level at IU where he was above the rules. The Neal Reed choking incident was the final straw. Will this be that moment for Self? I doubt it, but it probably should be.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

And that is why I applaud Fran the couple times he made his players immediately go to the locker room after the game and not shake hands because both instances he did tensions were high. You have really competitive guys and sometimes this happens when emotions are high (it shouldn’t happen but still does). I tried explaining this to Cyclone fans after Fran got everyone to the locker room when Prohm grabbed J-Bo but of course they only see it as disrespect and lack of sportsmanship. Uh, no it’s called protecting all the players and both universities. Weber even admitted he takes some blame for not telling KSU players to back off.
The ending of the Iowa-ISU last year was similar in that Jacobsen was trying to steal the ball from CMac. Iowa had the game won and it was too late for a steal to make any difference. But Jacobsen was still all over Conner & he didn't like that. What Prohm should have done was grab Jacobsen , who was the problem. Instead he acts as if the Iowa pllayers were.

Also while there was the swat on the KSU player trying to score there was another KU player there and it looks as if he grabs or hits the arm of the KSU player. If no fight I would hope the kSU player would have been awarded two FTs.

There were several “none of this happens if...” moments in this game by both teams.

Not condoning his actions, but he did just have the ball stolen from him as he was trying to dribble out the clock. Clearly he crossed the line standing over the KSU player, who was not completely innocent. Plenty of ‘what not to do’s’ in this one. I would be disgusted to be a fan of either one of these programs.

Exactly. Both players being DBags at the end for both teams. Trying to dribble out a 20pt win and DBag goes for the steal. Other player blocks it (which is fine) but then is a DBag and stands over the KSU DBag.

Both guys didn't do anything worth a suspension to that point. Probably a Technical on the guy standing over the KSU player.

They'll obviously review the tape and hand out punishment to those that escalated.

Desouza gets 12 games. McCormack gets 2 games.

Two players from KSU get 8 games + 3 games.

Slap on the wrist.

Certainly better then I expected. 12 games is significant, and will put him out for the rest of the regular season. There's still some chatter in the local news that the coaches may face some sanction, but I won't hold my breath on that. Crazy part was they interviewed numerous KU students, Lawrence is only 20 minutes from KC, and they basically said it was a little embarrassing for the school but he was just sticking up for his team mates, and what was he supposed to do? Total douchbaggery...

No, way under than expected....

The NCAA seems to have put it's head in the sand now when it comes to what goes on in College Basketball....Kansas was one of the big players in the FBI's investigation...as the NCAA hid out.

Speaking of thuggish behavior on another court, I was watching Nebraska and Wisconsin last night, and noticed (as they do every game) Nebraska players have to taunt and celebrate every shot they make...one of their most obnoxious players Cam Mack especially, he made a three one time near Wisconsin bench and then turned and taunted them....and really for no apparent reason other than he's just a 20 year old wrap in a six-year old brain. He also has to do the bow and arrow gesture after making shots too....of course he then eventually always does hero ball moves and turns the ball over repeatedly costing Nebraska a chance of winning....but most certainly Hoiberg had to promise to let him do what ever he wants to recruit him to a sub-par program of Nebraska (previously he was #1 juco guard last year).

Officials, just like in football, need to start dishing out Tech-fouls to stop the jerky behavior oh...and Nebraska players have to make faces and throw little tantrums and plead with Refs on every call against them...no matter how obvious it is.
It is a cultural thing and to try to oppress it might make you a racist.

De sousa should be done for the year. Getting in a scuffle...pushing, shoving, even throwing a punch is one thing. Picking up a chair/stool to use as a weapon? No. You're done.

Really? :)

You would be insufferable to watch a game with. You remind me of the Penn State fan who sent a letter in on tattoos & haircuts.
Okay, it is not a cultural thing, but who is most likely to carry on that way. Have you watched any NFL games recently? I didn't see the letter that you are referring to, but from how you described it and your attitude, I'd say the guy was probably right. Some of the hairdos are absolutely ridiculous and are actually laughable.

Thanks for the link. I read about the man's disgust for the player's dreadlocks, but there was no mention of tattoos at all in that article. None. There was ,also, no mention of ear rings, gold grills, or gold chains. My theory is that you, without a concern for the truth, was just piling on the man who wrote the letter.
Was the letter dumb? Yes. If a player wants to draw attention to himself, and that is what players who put on their little drama queen demonstrations and wear ridiculous hairstyles and, here it is, tattoos, as well as, gold teeth and gold chains are trying to do, that is up to them. ''Look at me!! Did you see what I just did!'' I come from the old school of acting like you have been there before.
Did you know that there is no penalty for grabbing a player's dreadlocks or long hair when attempting to tackle them?
To me, dreadlocks are most associated with reggae music and reggae music is most associated with the ganja culture of Jamaica. It sends a message, a wrong message. You won't see it is many corporate hallways.
And, before you get all racist , I dislike the man bun hairstyle that some men wear a lot more than dreadlocks. I threw that in there because I suspect that you may have a man bun hairstyle.

Settle down Sally. I just said you reminded me of that guy. No, I don't have a manbun. If we're gonna suspect each others looks I'm guessing you have a goatee.

No goatee. No beard, especially no ''Smith Brothers'' from cough drop fame type of beard.Just a moustache that is nicely trimmed. But, thanks for asking. Now, I have to go yell at some kids to get the hell off of my lawn.

Trying to stay hip with the kids....is this the time where you say 'Okay Boomer' or is it time for 'Settle down Karen' or the picture of the screaming lady and the white cat? So many choices.

I always wondered why coaches don't get time off when something like this happens.....aren't the coaches responsible for their players? Coaches that cheat in recruiting that get fired always come out smelling like a rose in the end and usually make more money at the next university they coach at.
It just seems to me that coaches are immune to any punishment when something like this happens...

Sorry, not sorry, but I have no idea what you meant by what you just said nor what your intentions were.
