Fran is done

About the dumbest effin thread I've seen filled with the dumbest mother-effer's.

You want to ignore the BTT win, the 5 seed in the tourney, and taking a team picked to finish in the bottom 4 of the B1G made it to top 5? You have zero basketball knowledge to disavow a coach that has developed Iowa, developed players (3rd All-American in 3 years after not having one since 19-freaking-52), and has Iowa at a level that is hasn't been since the best days of Tom Davis.
This blowing it in the post season isn't a one off this is a pattern. The we were picked to finish in the bottom 4 and finished in the top 5 is a silly argument. Ask yourself why in the hell a coach who has been at a school for over a decade has a team expected to finish in the bottom 4. Lastly with all of these All-Americans why can't Fran make it to at least the Sweet 16. Do I want to ignore the BTT? Yes pretty much. Conference tournaments are often crap shots

The Hawks played well. They defended well, rebounded well. Joe T didn't play well and neither did Kris. Hawks walk away with an easy W if they just shoot their season averages.

Pinning this one on Fran is absurd. This game was there to be won and the players didn't get it done.

Curse of Dr Tom dont blame anyone but Karma
Tom Davis

Tom Davis

While at Iowa, he led the Hawkeyes to nine NCAA Tournaments, including a pair of Sweet Sixteen appearances as well as an Elite Eight. The Hawkeyes also made two NIT appearances. He is the winningest coach in the University of Iowa history, with an overall record of 270-139, and 126-104 in the Big Ten conference.
His team was ranked number one during the 1986-87 season. The Hawkeyes won a school record 30 games before eventually being beaten in the Regional Final of the NCAA Tournament by UNLV 84-81. He was named Associated Press National Coach of the Year, and Big Ten Coach of the Year.
On April 2, 1998, after Iowa lost in the first round of the NIT, Davis announced that he would resign after his contract would expire in the following season. Athletic director Bob Bowlsby notified Davis that he would not renew his contract. In Davis's final season, Iowa advanced to the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1988.

Did Bohannon play the entire second half? I quit watching. Fran shit all over this one by not letting his subs play more. He forgot what brought them here. Just like he always does. Time to start fresh. We've seen the best he has to offer It was great till he got in his own way. So stupid
The subs weren't doing anything either. This whole team looked just gassed IMO.
No excuse as lots of teams are tired this time of year. However, in our defense we play in a much tougher conference . Its a war of attrition in the B1G and having to go 4 straight days in the tourney is alot to ask. I think we just saw a tired team with no legs. Shots being short all day long is the first clue you have dead legs....

One of the stupidest posts of the year….and that’s really saying something. Clear troll attempt and very weak at that.
Thanks perry, I was waiting for your validation! What a fool believes he sees, No wise man has the power, to reason away! Hey but at least, what seems to be Is always better than nothing
And nothing at all keeps sending me. Obviously right?

This past weekend was fun, but I was not fooled by Fran at all....knew with 100% certainty that we would win no more than 1 game...and the loser couldn't even do that.
And your not fooling anyone either posing as an Iowa fan. Not one post from you in the last several weeks as Iowa won 12 of their last 14 games and the tourney champs. But here you are right on Q. Amazing and predictable. This sucks, but even worse is the posers like you who show up with the salt after any loss....

Joe T lost his mind and got goaded into that charge by the other player. REALLY poor play by him and a really bad time.....

Over reaction Thursday. Think about the entire season including where you thought we’d be before the first tip-off of game one. The team busted butt before today and overachieved IMO.
lol

Buy your season tickets and merch, bro.

Overachieved this year, but the lack of tournament success is an albatross around Fran and the Iowa program.

Hoping that Fran wants to finish his coaching career back in Philadelphia, perhaps at a Temple or LaSalle. No chance a 62 year old coach who has never made a Sweet 16 gets a head coaching job at another Power 5 school.

Dude settle down he ain’t going anywhere- he’s done a f’ing unreal job this year IMHO
Should he be fired? No. Has he done a good coaching job this season? Yes. That said they were a five seed and as such viewed as a very good team expected to win this game. It’s time to quit making excuses. Last year they were a two seed and get blown out. This year lose to a Richmond team that honestly didn’t even play that well today.
Iowa as a program needs to ask themselves why aren’t we prepared or the aggressor when we get into the Dance? They looked unprepared, uninspired and indifferent today just like against Oregon, Gonzaga ect.

Lol! That's some funny stuff there. Fran has never had a team remotely close to a Tom Davis team at its best. players didn't leave after a year then. Much tougher competition then. No All Americans since 1952? Hahahaha ok how old are you ? 6?

Tom Davis never lost in the first round

The dipshits come running back. Like they’re storming the court.

Good lord it was awesome when you turds were gone.
You have a difficult time being civil don't you? Just because you have your opinion does not mean others cannot have their opinion. How old are you junior?

Fran is not going anywhere, nor should he and these posts that complain about him have zero effect on the Iowa program. Twitter is THE cesspool and maybe you should get on Twitter to go after true Haters. Twitter unlike this board, is read by players/direct messages taken, but fortuately JBO is on that.

The Haters are people that love the Iowa program, just don't think that coaching your best team in 12 years to a 1st round loss is B1G coach of the year or hall of fame coaching.

Fran has established himself as average in the pantheon of Iowa coaches. ....It has been mentioned,..... Lute, Bucky O'Connor are not walking in the door ...which is true, .....because the job is occupied by a guy with lower ceiling.

Fran is going nowhere. He just won the BIG.

No, he won the b10 tournament. Nobody outside of Iowa cares about that bigten tournament but hey let's all hang our collective hat on it for a year or two.

Only us Iowa fans pretend those things are the same. Look at the complete body of work over only the last four years and consider what has passed through the system and the results of the seasons (big picture is the dance). If you expand 4-6 previous years there is just the improvement from lick. Im thankful but also confident many other people were capable of doing what Fran did plus a little more over the years.

I call him Lick jr now, he should resign, he‘s horrible!!!!!!
You obviously have zero grasp of history. We lost 22 games Lick's last year! We just finished our 4th straight 20 win season and won the BTT. I'm disappointed today, too, but just stop with this type of over-the-top reaction.

Nice

Man I don't want to hate on the guy but at this point the lack of success in the tournament just can't be ignored. A fresh start might be the best thing for all parties involved here. Its been 12 years for him, and now 23 going on 24 seasons since a S16 for the program. He couldn't get it done with 2 POY's. He's a damn good coach but at some point as a quality power 5 program, and with the resources he's afforded, you gotta get it done when it matters and he isn't. I'm more resigned to the fact that this will probably continue for another decade this way. This really, really sucks.
