Fran postgame

This response is why I don't give a crap about anything you "reporters" have to say.
You all act like you're so important, Hassel(whomever he is, lol), not so much you in this case.
When I read any of your opinions and I mean any "reporters", local or national, it boggles my mind why anyone cares about any of your opinions.

I do want to know Tom’s opinion and the opinion of other’s who cover the program. They are closer to the team than I am and have access to more information. I listen to multiple podcasts about the Hawkeyes for the same reason.

Outside of the answers given by players pre or post game I don't need to know their thoughts on something I watched with my own eyes.

It never hurts to listen to the opinions of others, especially if their opinion is different than yours as it may give you additional insight. No one is forcing you to listen or read whatever Tom or the others covering the team put out if you disagree.

Does this really surprise anyone? The act is getting old. It’s one thing when you’re a top five team competing for championships....

We are talking about basketball not something health related for example so, no, I don't care what any of them have to say.

Are you in Mooresville, In? Johnson's Barbecue is $$ if so.

No, I am in Mooresville, NC. This message board and Iowa podcasts is where I go to get information on the Hawkeyes down here in ACC and SEC country. There are a couple of good BBQ joints in the area down here as well.

Hassel hates Fran because Fran has a sometimes uncomfortable relationship with Dolph. That's pretty well documented. Hassel is a Dolph guy, which is fine. I love Dolph and he's a great guy, but Chris lets it get personal and throws his usual hissy fits on twitter after games when Iowa loses, generally attacking Fran. I think Chris is a talented guy, but at some point in his life I hope he matures a bit with his social media persona.
Who, in hell, is Chris Hassel?

Kakert You seem to be more thin skinned than Fran.

LOL! Yeah, ok there champ. When I block someone on social media for simply liking a tweet that was critical of me, then I will be as thin skinned as Chris. And for the record, I didn't even follow him, nor did I have any real interest in doing so, but just seemed petty.

That's fine. I kind of feel the same way about your poor takes on Iowa basketball and media. Goes both ways. :) Boggles my mind why anyone would care about the sports opinions of a guy named goodbyebobby.

This is true. If you don't want to listen or read any of my views, perfectly fine with it. Won't be offended at all. And none of us are perfect or right all the time. Simply try to get a semi educated and reasonable take on a game or the program or the future or whatever it might be when it comes to Iowa athletics. Does it mean my opinion is better than anyone else? Nope. Just try to do my best and be fair and accurate. And if someone doesn't want to read it or listen to it, fair enough. I won't be offended.

Perfect. You understand your opinion is irrelevant as well.

I just don't understand why people are ignorant enough to part with their money to get information from you that will be public knowledge in due time.
No information you get would ever be that special.

I've never claimed anything special about my opinions. I simply report the news, cover games, and give my thoughts. Not once in my going on 18 years here have I said anything I do is better than anyone else or special. Just try to do my job the best I can, be fair to the prospects, players, and coaches I cover, give accurate information to readers, and provide an environment for fans to share their experiences.

But I'm not paying a dime for anything, unlike you.

Dude give it up. This site has a business model where it's clearly stated what you get by paying or choosing not to play. Tom isn't stealing anyone's money. The members obviously like it enough to pay. They can choose to leave at any time.

It's like anything that people pay money for. Some people think it's worthwhile and a good return for their money, others don't.

If you're stupid enough to do pay it you're correct.
And stupid is the proper term. 😉

As usual, the reaction to the post game press conference is determined by your opinion of McCaffery. Those of you who dislike him, dislike everything that he does and blames him for every time the team loses, no matter how it occurs. I like Fran and, while I don't agree with everything he does or says, I give him the benefit of having nearly 40 years of college basketball experience, which is exactly 40 more years than most anyone on this board. The true hypocrites are those that either cheer for the team until things go slightly south, or those who hide in the woodwork and slither out to post your venom when you feel others, with similar beliefs, will have your back.

Hassle sacrificed a chance at his dream job because he is immature, petty, and craves attention. He needs to grow up, and also needs Harreld, Barta, and Fran to leave (and some donors) if he wants a chance at the Iowa job some day. Of course he is going to try to his best to make that happen, even as it undermines the success of the program and AD.

I don't think Hassle is a very big fan of Fran, just based off his tweets over the past couple of years. I also don't think the guys at WHO (Hassle's former employer and close friends) are very big fans of Fran, and maybe the fact that he refuses to come on their radio show (they have made these comments on air) when KF is on weekly has something to do with it.

I disagree with Hassle that Fran was trying to disparage a reporter. I do, however, agree with Hassle that Fran didn't handle that post game presser very well. The goal tend call hurt, but overall I didn't think the officiating lost Iowa the game. It would have been a great opportunity for Fran to just say we didn't play our best but still had a chance to win. We have to be better down the stretch, where we had to two terrible turnovers in the final two minutes. But like Hassle said, each coach handles a loss differently. Frans handling of this one just seemed whiny when Iowa can, and needs, to play better.

Yet another moment where Frans temper makes him look bad.

the good thing is I’m finally sensing a majority of posters here are ready to get rid of him. That’s progress!

Sorry for the tough questions coach... maybe play the kids who have earned it and are more talented instead of leaving them on the bench because you don't want to take your less talented boy off the court...

Bingo. One of several reasons. Fran is horse shit and needs to go. He’s just a dbag who can’t adjust in game and frequently gets embarrassed by even mediocre coaches.

Frans an ahole pure and simple. Post game exposes his true colors. He’s like this so frequently after losses and like some as myself who has met him before outside the court he’s a smug prick who thinks he’s better and knows so much then everyone Else in anything. Plain and simple he’s a jerk and a poor in game coach and both showed today.
