FRAN, STOP PLAYING YOUR SON!!!!!

B

Blaming Patrick is giving Krikke and Perkins a complete pass. They were the two, Sandfort is included here too, in the game when it started like 15-2. Krikke was non existant and Perkins missed 3 layups when the score was within 5 points in the 2nd half.

Tone deaf post there… Perkins and Krikke have racked up a lot of goodwill this season. Sandfort too. Patrick has lead the team in what I call “jump twirls” though.

His comment was said and based on last night's game - that is how I responded. Don't be a douche.

Especially on Senior Night.
Yep, we as fans don't have any control over who plays or not. We act like we can but can't.
Coach has that decision and I'm ok with that. I see that the way I made the statement everyone might think I hated Patrick playing but I don't. Just made the statement that Fran maybe felt he should play is seniors on senior night. Fans don't get that choice.

I'm curious if he coaches breakdown film of individuals after games and sit down with players to coach them on effort and basketball IQ. Do they sit Pmac down and show him how much effort he lacks and how that impacts the team? Lack of defense and rebounding. Same with Payton and his shot selection? Harding and his picking up dribble & hesitating in the lane with nowhere to go. Perkins and his lackadasical attitude, losing focus at times.

Call them out & sit them if they don't improve. I can live with lack of talent (Fran's recruiting issues) but no excuse for lack of effort on defense & rebounding. Also, no excuse for bad shot selection early in the shot clock (PS).

I wouldn’t want to be the assistant coach that chews out PMAC for lack of effort!

The illini game at their place i remeber their coach sitting the entire starting 5 for lack of effort and other things when we started out with a good lead

That coach gets it and i think Fran does too but Fran would never do that

Illinois is just simply a much better basketball team. Maybe one of our players could start for the Illini. Their defense caused us to look pretty awful.
Disagree with your comments regarding the Ilinois defense. We were able to get open , quality shots all night. We just couldn't throw a beach ball into the ocean last night. The thing Illinois did best was rebounding. We missed 42 shots and were only able to get 3 offensive rebounds. That shows a lack of effort.

When 90% of the Teams practice is sets and shooting how do You expect Iowa to ever be a good rebounding Team or Defensive Team for that matter? Iowa plays soft and only has decent rebounding or defense if Player or Players comes ready made in those areas , Fran regards defense and rebounding like a case of Syphilis, to be avoided

Ok my apologies for any offense taken.

However I think we’d both agree to the following:

1) every player can have bad games here and there.

2) as long as that player has had many more good games, we as fans shrug it off.

3) PMac hasn’t earned the right for MOST of us to give him such latitude. MOST of us feel the other 3 have.

I blame the assistant coaches more than I blame Fran for Patrick getting 24 min, while Dembele got 10 min. We got murdered on the boards (2 offensive rebounds!), yet Patrick was still out there observing from the wing. He would have had 0 field goals if he hadn't hoisted a 3, when the game was no longer being contested at the very end.

I don't disagree with you one bit - my comments had to do with last night and Patrick wasn't the only player to take to task and I thought it was unfair to him to do so. In his defense, he has been pretty good the last maybe 3-4 games and it seems pretty hard for some to give him any degree of credit for it. But yes he has probably under performed for the most part over his career and I'm glad for him that it's time to move on.

Nail on the head.

Illinois is obviously a better team, but their defense wasn't the problem. Rebounding was where the dominated.

Iowa can't guard them but Iowa just put up 85 on them a week ago.

Pretty sure the ball has to be released for it to be considered "a shot", if that makes sense. I get your point: it's above the cylinder, but since it hasn't been released yet, it's fair game.
I should have said how can it not be either a foul and/or goal tending. Shannon had to hit Dix's wrists as he swung down on the ball from behind. I think the non-call is an example of stars being officiated differently. If Dembele had done the same thing, there is a very high chance that he gets called for a foul.

It's definitely possible to block that shot without fouling but it's very unlikely given dix had two hands on the ball.

You almost never see the reffs not call that a foul because there's almost no way they would be able to see it clearly enough to tell and a clean block is extremely unlikely.

I just couldn’t get how Harding changed the energy of the team completely, and then he sits him on the bench the second half. Perkins was a net negative today and should not have seen more than 15 minutes. What was Fran watching….
Not our game….🙁

A game, maybe two left then over for the season. I’m done with the obvious that Fran can’t or won’t see. Appreciate all he has done but it’s time for the entire McCaffrey family to head to South Bend or wherever Jack is going to go play. Bring in Darren Devries and his 3 time Player of the Year son to lead the Hawks to a Sweet 16 in his first year at Iowa. Make it happen BG. So sick of nepotism at Iowa.
