It’s funny that Iowa has one of the most likable Football coaches I’ve ever seen. But one of the most dis-likable basketball coaches I’ve ever seen. He has more haters than Coach K or Bob Knight.

He's not even the least liked coaches in the conference. There is a guy named Tom Izzo. What did he do that was so bad other than have terrible rotations and ask why a Illinois has 1 fouled called in the last 12 minutes?
He's had like 1 tech in the last 2 years.
Yea, Fran calling out the refs without calling out the refs. I like that commentary a lot actually!
I has to get sooo old for Fran to show up to games and see these same guys in stripes over and over and over.

Fran is great, just needs to shift some minutes around. We know what we have (and aren't getting) with JBo. I want to see more Joe T, Perkins, and Ullis
That shows how little you know. Fran is very well liked and respected by those around college basketball. It is just basketball fans of other teams with little knowledge who dislike Fran. Name one person coaching or covering college basketball who dislikes Fran.
Kinda pathetic actually. The goal tending call was the right call and chad leistikow is a huge douche.
I tip my hat to Fran as he speaks honestly and directly to whomever he talks to, is informative and seems to have a sense of humor to boot, but he's been at Iowa will over 10 years now and nothing seem to chance in his coaching philosophy. Iowa's team defense is as bad now as it was in his first season and he has never once tried to fix it. That's on him.
He's also good for many close games ending up in the loss column because of his strange substitutions and lack of coaching savvy that the great ones posses. It is what it is. Can't always get what you want in life. Just glad that at least there's Garza to admire and there's always the tournament to look forward to.....

Give me a break. Everyone in CBB has seen his behavior on the sideline for years and there are plenty of people “around college basketball” who don’t respect treating players and refs that way.

I’ve literally never heard a single player, current or former, say anything negative about Fran. So honestly no clue what you are talking about when you say “treating players that way”. Everyone remembers the Wisconsin game 5+ years ago when he got into it with the refs, but he’s been pretty tame for several years now. He’s definitely got flaws as a coach (X’s/O’s and substitution patters) but by all accounts a really good guy.
People who know college basketball universally respect Fran. Yes. Universally.
He gets his Irish up at times and yes it’s not always good optics but the cbb world knows him to be a good coach and a good man.

This clip is a perfect example of his behavior. The goaltending call was rightly corrected, it was so close they initially missed it, big deal. Happens all the time in every sport, except most coaches understand they’re paid Millions of Dollars to behave with a modicum of professionalism and respect....
And yes Fran, YOU DO NEED TO DO A MUCH BETTER JOB OF BRINGING GUARDS WITH ACTUAL B1G TEN ATHLETICISM TO IOWA CITY, and if you fail at it like this year, man up and own it like you’re paid Millions of Dollars to do Instead of acting like a massive baby In this pathetic clip.

You made the claim that people around basketball do not respect Fran because of his antics. I asked you to name one. You cannot do it. Everyone knows Fran gets emotional on the court, sometimes too emotional. He is also one of the nicest guys off of the court and all of his players respect him. I have seen Him in numerous interviews with other coaches and ex-coaches like John Beilein and Fran Fraschilla and even Dan Dakich. They all have great things to say about Fran. Name me one person who does not.

Wow, I guess this needs broken down for you. Dakich does broadcasts, what is he going to say about someone he has to cover? An extended feud with Fran literally takes money out of his pocket, potentially a lot.
