The one thing that could make him rich is the one thing he obviously doesn't want to do. I wonder when desperation makes him "love" wrestling again.
That’s why it so hard to find good athletic heavyweights, football and basketball suck them all up.I think you're underestimating how ridiculous NFL athletes are. Gable doesn't look especially fast or quick compared to his peers out there.

Well very soon, football and WWF will be past tense. Then what? MMA? No way is Gable going to do MMA. He’s the least committed man in America. He’d get his ass handed to him in MMA.Football and WWF are get very rich quick, and wrestling is get moderately rich slower.
He needs to at least go back and finish his degree for free plus a bunch of NIL opportunities. Make some more money and increase you legendary status with a few world golds and another Olympic gold, then the sky’s the limit in coaching after that.Well very soon, football and WWF will be past tense. Gable was gifted at birth to be a wrestler. It didn’t require great effort to be the best. He took it for granted. Now he is seeing how narrow his skill set and opportunity is. Unless he finds his future in wrestling, I fear that he will be in some menial job in a few years at age 30 with no money and no degree.

Not sure if he does, just saying he will probably have a quick rise to a head job, maybe not as fast as Taylor. Not easy to go from no experience to top paid head coach in college wrestling with first job. Helps to have a billionaire booster all in with your program now. What leads you to believe he can and wants to coach?
No disrespect, but Taylor and Steveson are night and day beyond stellar careers and then gold. Not sure if he does, just saying he will probably have a quick rise to a head job, maybe not as fast as Taylor. I’m not putting them on the same level right now. I’m talking opportunities down the road a piece if he goes back and gets his degree, another ncaa championship, and some more world and Olympic golds. Even then, he will probably have to spend some time on a college staff before getting an opportunity like Taylor’s. May have to start at a lower level head job first even. Getting an opportunity with the kind of pay Taylor got straight out of being a competitor is as rare as hens teethNo disrespect, but Taylor and Steveson are night and day beyond stellar careers and then gold.
One settled down and started multiple businesses, including a premier club over a number of years. He learned the Sanderson program over 15 years. He has a Masters in Education Administration.
The other left college before getting a degree and has moved from one idea to another in rapid succession. He has shown no inclination to coach or be a mentor to others. Without a college degree, no university of significance would hire him. What message would that send?
The two are heading in polar opposite directions and it doesn't appear that is changing anytime soon. Unfortunately. Wrestling would gain with Gable back in the sport, and so would Gable.

Taylor set himself up for this move. Wasn’t a matter of if as much as when, imo. DT has been in the wrestling business for years. He’s built a pipeline. And connections.I’m not putting them on the same level right now. Possibly he was just sick of wrestling all the time. He likely has more money that most 24 year olds out there. I'd say he is doing just fine living his own life.Gable is an absolute idiot. and he got terrible advice. If he truly wanted to be a star - the freaking bright lights of Hollywood were literally staring him in the face.
He would have gotten NIL money and had he won tokyo and now Paris Olympics - he's likely a Nike athlete. And then what? at the age of 28, hes a 3 time olympian with the chance to win in LOS ANGELES. Talk about being a "star" and getting the a heads up in the acting world.
It's still not too late. Hope when he gets cut he comes back to wrestling.
This is a horrible take. What's he going to do the next 50 years? 24 year old money won't get him there.Possibly he was just sick of wrestling all the time. He likely has more money that most 24 year olds out there. I'd say he is doing just fine living his own life.

Would 2009 Tom Brands allow a booster to define his program? He was born in the year 2000. He has time to figure out his own life.
You know what's a horrible take? Calling Tom Brands a follower, not a leader.
The only people I see making comments about a booster defining the program are Penn State fans. Why do you suppose that is? You are telling us Bob defines/leads the program and Tom follows him. Is that correct?Would 2009 Tom Brands allow a booster to define his program?
... but I can see why you changed the subject.
Hollywood doesn’t care how tall he is…Gable is an absolute idiot. and he got terrible advice. If he truly wanted to be a star - the freaking bright lights of Hollywood were literally staring him in the face.

Who's idea was it to bring in PD3 and AJF?You are telling us Bob defines/leads the program and Tom follows him. Is that correct?

Thanks Mr CruiseHollywood doesn’t care how tall he is…
If he was a talented actor, he’d be making big bucks in the WWE. They couldn’t come up with a good gimmick that he could pull off.Hollywood doesn’t care how tall he is…
How did this hurt us?? Neither ever wore the singlet or took the mat as a Hawkeye. Neither committed crimes in Iowa City. They both blew golden opportunities, so they were the one hurt, not us. Plus with entering AJ and Anthony it helped us land Angelo, who seems like a good kid so far and a serious talent . I say it was win win for us.That ain't good

Since you asked, Iowa lost AT LEAST one very talented wrestler because of the presence of the Ferrari clan. How did this hurt us?? Neither ever wore the singlet or took the mat as a Hawkeye. You going back to Chittum?? He already had a pretty checkered past with lack of commitment to schools and many on here said his dad had a lot to do with it. He could’ve signed his loi long before they had interest in Ferrari, and may not have persued Ferrari if he would have signed. They had to cover their ass in case he bailed, which he did.Since you asked, Iowa lost AT LEAST one very talented wrestler because of the presence of the Ferrari clan.

Didn't the guy we replaced Chittum with beat him and place higher than Chittum in the NCAA tournament? Is that a loss?If you don't think that PD3 and the Ferarri circus didn't give the Iowa Wrestling program a black eye, you really do have your head in the sand. The Chittum loss may have been the most visible, but I can't help but think that it has also played a part in the lack of top shelf recruits heading to Iowa. Collateral damage and guilt by association is real.

He was also presumed to be at a different weight had he stayedDid he not leave the program? Is that not a loss?
Didn't he leave multiple programs, multiple times?Did he not leave the program? Is that not a loss?
Didn't he leave multiple programs, multiple times?
Iowa will be just fineYes, and it was a loss at some level to those programs as well.
Chittum aside, the larger point of the post has been glossed over entirely. PD3 and AJ are a stain on the Iowa program whether you choose to admit it or not - and it doesn't matter that they never officially wore the black and gold.
Collateral damage and guilt by association is real.

I think it's a loss although I don't know how much he was actually here if that makes sense. Ferraris may have played a role later but if I have my timeline right, Chittum was living and training here but still hadn't signed an LOI. Trust goes both ways. Considering the history there of getting cold feet, maybe Brands felt that he needed options there.
That wasn’t true, he verbally committed. If he would have signed in the fall, probably wouldn’t have pursued Anthony, unless Angelo made it clear it would give an Iowa a leg up if they gave his brother a chance?? Either way, Chittum is about as trustworthy as that jerk football player from SE Polk who went to Alabama. Chittum will bounce from IA State to a big time program that needs him if he ever lives up to the hype he had as a recruit.
It’s kind of a meaningless point now but they did post on Twitter he was “signed”
