Gabble Steveson to Iowa?

@Bucky712 Looks like your thread title spelling could use a correction. If you go to your original post you will see 3 dots with a down arrow to the upper right. Click on that and choose "Edit Thread". This will allow you to correct the spelling and and stop posts like ^^^ from dub.

I didn’t realize the mistake when posting the above. I was responding to another poster who was apparently pointing out the spelling error.

Saw some of the Bears-Bills game today. Steveson didn't look half bad. Had a couple QB pressures. They even had a small feature on him and his wrestling career. Downside is that they said he's "barely" 6 feet and 260. The Bills starters are 6'-4" and 320. Has athleticism and quickness though and that wrestling experience comes in handy in the trenches. That said, he got horsed on a number of plays against guys 60-70 pounds more.

So, he’s actually playing?

Why are we hating a guy chasing a dream. I would love if he was as wrestling but can’t fault a guy trying to make nfl. Even practice squad probably pays; think it’s like 250k a year.
Which posts in the last day were hating on the guy? They were honest assessments of what he did in a football game.

The reality is that the Bills have 7 DTs, and Gable is 25 pounds lighter than the next closest guy but not perceptively quicker. He was outmatched on running plays, so is likely only an obvious passing down player at the moment. That’s not hating on Gable. I watched the game.

He clearly doesn't have a football career in the future, pro rasslin...nope.

I imagine he can get an asst coaching job in collegiate wrestling at some point.

I'm not his father, but I'd counsel him to go back to college and get his degree, wrestle his final season collegiately, and go into coaching, with his degree as fallback. I fear his changing interests are going to leave him in no mans land sooner rather than later with no work skills. Again, not hating on the guy but realistic. His physical gifts will wane and then what does he have?

Lmao , what do you have?

Watched the Bills v Steelers game last night (I'm a Steelers fan), and I do not believe Gable got into the game at all. A very bad sign for someone trying to make the team. I still say that Gable will be in college and wrestling second semester for someone not named PSU or OSU. If Buchanan can supposedly make $500k as a one year hire, what would a 2 time champ and gold medalist command? Michigan or Iowa is my guess.

Can we stop with the $500K crap for Buchanan please. Anyway, Steveson was asking for $1.3M last go around - hard pass.

I did say supposedly. If the NFL doesn't work out, that's one less open door, so his price should lessen. I think someone could purchase his services for $750k. Does NIL usually have a performance bonus structure in it? Would want one with Gable.

Pay per hands shaken in the show room of the car dealer is allowed.

Beyond that it's been prohibited from day one for NIL contracts to include any sports performance clauses. Athletic participation cannot even be a contract contingency.

I thought it was 1 semester not 1 year?

Good to know. I guess that will be the next progression in sports. Now that athletes have gained control over their NIL, how long before they gain control over their performance for pay?

He was in on the play where Fields overthrew his guy pretty bad in the end zone, but that was the only time I saw him in there

I thought we've already confirmed his contract signing was a personal favor from the Bills owner to a certain college wrestling coach?

What position was he playing on this play?
he plays DT. He just doesn't have any explosion off the snap. You could see it on this play, and making it worse is that he has no "go to" move to get around bigger and stronger offensive linemen. Not picking on Gable but he is tons worse on running plays. I saw him last week get pushed 15 yards downfield, and it was only 15 yards because the play ended. Completely overpowered by a guy at least 60 pounds heavier with better footwork. No way he makes the 53 man roster.

It wasn't stupid to bring him in because there's zero risk and only upside. However, it's pretty clear he's nowhere near good enough to play at this level. He probably wouldn't sniff the field at most D1 schools.

He might be the worst player currently on an NFL roster, which is no shade to Gable. He's literally never played before.
