Garza vs Iowa St

yeah i understand the rivalry and all and its fun to some point, but hopefully it is just a hard fought game, without fights, some mutual respect.. I know people get energized and emotional but no need for the physical confrontation crap.. Although I love Haliburtons play, i do hate the 'long-distance call' thing he does after a 3 but those sort of things are minor and if people like them what the heck, but no need for physical stuff, just can get really out of hand in such a charged environment. Now back to the game, no doubt Garza has a superior offensive game compared to any of our bigs, but all 3 or ours have some quality aspects to their game. But dang the Hawks have a serious drop off when Garza has to come out and Kriener or particularly Pemsl come in. I was really surprised by how bad Pemsl has looked, I mean I get the injuries and all but still he just looks bad. Of course last year at Carver he overcame his injuries just to play ISU, looked so good agains ISU then took the medical red-shirt didn't he? I really expected him to look good this year, but so far not so much. Of course he will probably drop into a phone booth and change into his superman cape for the ISU game again.

Personally, I'd love it if Iowa went man to man and put Joe on Tyrese. He's tall and can pose more of a threat to block Tyrese's 3 point shot that comes from his belly. CJ on Bolton and Jobo on Nixon, and Connor on Jacobsen.
Unfortunately, I think we'll have to go zone in order to conserve our energy with lack of bodies right now.

Garza is playing great. He works his tail off, knows his game and rarely strays from what works. Offensively, he runs straight to the block and uses his very good to exceptional footwork to his advantage. I don't think he travels all that often, but uses and gets away with a hook quite a bit. If ISU can run, perhaps he can get tired out. However, if I were game planning, I think I'd take the page from Michigan's playbook and let Garza get his. I'd focus on ball pressure and tight three point defense as Michigan proved that Garza running wild doesn't necessarily result in an Iowa win.

Thats all well and good, but if Michigan, (who is a top 5 rated team by the way), had not shot extremely well themselves they may very well have lost at home.

Iowa is going to win, probably by a lot. Iowa St is not a good offensive team, more defensively oriented. While we have a pretty poor defense, they don't have the shooting on their team to get us out of the zone. Garza should be able to abuse their interior considering he absolutely worked Teske, who probably is the best defensive C in the B1G. They'll either have to live with that or double inside, which should leave us with a bunch of easy outside shots. And unlike last year, Connor is hitting quite a few of those or at least driving and creating a secondary shot.

Too bad for Iowa St. Calling themselves "The Bear" and then absolutely getting smoked in every important sport for the 2nd year in a row plus losing 4 straight with WBB, 5 straight in FB, stopped counting in wrestling, and now, 3/4 in MBB.

By the way, we don't believe you Cyclone fans when you say you don't care, the players don't care as much, or simply that its our Superbowl. News flash, you're the Michigan and we're the Ohio St in this rivalry. And just like Michigan, you're a goddamn embarrassment.

Here's what you should expect as a normal person coming to Iowa's board. At least 1/3 of the comments will be ridiculous and hateful towards ISU, as some of your fans coming here have pushed those guys to the edge. Another 1/3, like myself, will debate and talk sports all day long, no matter who you are, until you start bashing our players and/or coach. The last 1/3 will just put you on ignore and move on with their day. Expect this every time you come on here, and you'll do just fine.

Draws a ton of charges, does a good job denying the ball to the other team's best player, etc. They put him on Oregon State's best offensive player in the second half and he did a great job on him.

The last clown to put up 40 on the road in conference?

I actually looked it up - no Cyclone has taken 32 shots in a game in Rhodes in 1988. I think only 5 times in the last 10 years has a major conference team had a player take 32 or more shots. It's kind of a weird outlier game honestly.
