Give me Otzelberger. Yeah I said it.

That's Iowa State's motto...........has been for years.

Boy you are trying way too hard to make this work considering you're an Iowa fan.

.......find another hill to die on. Thanks! :D

College basketball begins and ends with the tourney. Zero respect for Fran until we have some real success there.

Not likely to happen since we don't play consistently good defense.

I'd much rather beat you guys than lose to you, but if you think one game in December is the measure of the program you're wrong.

You literally just proved my point. Eventually history becomes ancient history and doesn't matter anymore.

I'd add for an example, ISU's back to back regular season championships in basketball occurred over 20 years ago. They really aren't relevant anymore.
Cool. You ignored the part where I pointed out Iowa was producing ranked/highly ranked NCAA caliber teams while the clowns were having losing seasons (one was historically bad) and that happened in two of the previous 3 seasons. Do you have amnesia? That "magical" s16 isu team 7-11 in conference FFS

Let's get past this nepotism garbage. Both Connor and Patrick are legitimate D-1 players. Quite frankly next to Kris and maybe Filip, Connor is pretty high on the list of most important players to this team.
This year doesn't expunge what happened the last 2 from the record. Connor starting and playing more than Keegan in 21 (even when injured and unproductive down the stretch) and Patrick starting over and playing more than Kris in 22 was an absolute joke and blatant nepotism. That doesn't mean C and P aren't d1 players as the Murrays are two of the best Iowa has had as far as NBA scouts are concerned. But it was blatant nepotism whether you want to acknowledge it or not.

Either that or just monumentally stupid personnel decisions that coincidentally helped out his sons

Different teams and different roles were needed, but I'm sure you can't understand that. No need to argue any further.

You are right. I’d say the 2020-21 team could have used 35 minutes against Oregon from a top 5 lottery pick. Might have helped.
Revisionist history of what happened and why is always 20/20. Next you're going to bitch and moan about why Kris didn't start as a freshman - because he's a probable 1st round pick in 2023. Must have been nepotism.

There see?

At least that horse still has some meat on his battered body.......

AND it doesn't have to do with Iowa State! :D

Last week, Race Thompson.

You can't actually be serious right? Watch the whole play at the 9:50 mark of this video. Perkins clearly just trips and unfortunately falls into Race's knee. There's literally nothing malicious about it just a freak accident. Him falling almost resulted in a turnover as he lost the ball as well--Kris just happened to be there to pick it up, but Tony just completely lost the ball as he tripped.

Meh, bitter. Not so much. Just can see the writing on the wall. I was raised on defense and rebounding. We do neither consistently well. Ergo, no NCAA Tourney runs.

I'm ready for Devries. Not going to happen, as Fran will be here until Jack graduates from Iowa (unless he gets tired of being here, fingers crossed).

I never said anything about nepotism. The issue is Oregon was so athletic in the 1 through 3 and we literally had no answer in the guard court for it.

Race Thompson ran toward Perkins as Perkins was tripping and losing control of the ball. Both players trying to make a play for the ball.

Grill threw his body into a defenseless player that was already in the air. Grill was making ZERO attempt at the basketball.

There is a monumental difference between the two plays, but @ISUBryceC knows that.

When you play out of control like Perkins was people get hurt. Woodson felt the same way. You can say there is a big difference

I obviously didn't like Grill's play. It was a bad play in a very chippy game. I'm not convinced he even saw him, because he was looking up at not at the player. When you view things through cardinal/black and gold/crimson and cream glasses you might view things differently.

Btw, I like the Cyclones too, except when they play the Hawks. I also want UNI to do well too unless they are playing the Hawks.
That blow your cork?? Lol
I'm from Iowa, I grew up in Iowa, I'm a fan of the state as well and want all of our schools to do well.
Hawks first!!
My thinking is just so childish sometimes. 😆
I root for Creighton as well - I guess that makes me a troll.

Did we watch the same play? How is Perkins out of control? He comes off a screen and a TJD did a good job of forcing him right to where the help defense (Race) is going to be and then Perkins stumbled over his own feet. He wasn't even moving that fast. Once he lost his footing his momentum was taking him down no matter what. Accidents happen in basketball and other sports, they just do. I feel bad for Race because he's a great player and there also wasn't anything he could have done differently either. But Woodson and you calling it dirty is pretty pathetic. There's plenty of other actual dirty plays that happen in a college basketball season and calling attention to a guy tripping over his feet is wild to me.

You make it sound like Tony plays out of control regularly or often. What other players have gotten hurt as a result? I can't think of any. And watching that play again and again, there is absolutely nothing malicious about it. Nothing.

Read through the entire thread. Agreed with several. Disagreed with several. Laughed at quite a few.

We can debate all day about which program is better, historically or otherwise, and never come to an agreement. Fine.

I started at ISU near the beginning of the Johnny Orr era + Hilton Magic ('83). As the years have passed, I've seen the high (Elite 8 in 2000) to the low (2-22 season) and a lot of in-betweens. I feel a lot of pride in ISU + their basketball program, and am sure Iowa alumni + fans feel the same.

"Which program is better" is a pissing contest I don't want to be a part of. All I will say is this, the present + future of Iowa State basketball looks very bright. Whatever team you root for, it's hard to deny that TJ is doing a helluva job. Not only does he utilize the transfer portal wisely, he is also signing good to great HS classes. The product on the floor is exciting to watch. I've seen a lot of ISU teams that played zero defense (Orr + Hoiberg teams come to mind) so the brand of basketball they play now is refreshing. Offense is a struggle at times, but their defense is fun to watch.

Anyway, I'm glad TJ is at ISU. I hope he stays a long time.

I don't see anything malicious about either play being discussed because I don't pretend to know what people are thinking especially in a basketball game where there are a lot of quick plays. I think both plays are reckless and that's what I have a problem with. We won't agree and that's fine.

You’re a buffoon. Go away. TJD tripped Perkins and of course it’s a “play on”.

Title teams play defense, and he recognizes that. Another big time recruit is about to commit publicly for 2024 and that will make two top 10 classes in a row so you are correct on the trajectory.

Frankly I can see TJ being able to pivot real fast if Omaha is a one and done guy.

6 national titles and 6 more conference titles than Iowa doesn't do it for you?
Hey Bryce why it is clown fans pick and choose what counts and what doesn’t? I mean last year clown fans ran their mouths about how awesome the Texas Ten was because of bowl game results. Now this year we must ignore that the Big Ten West had a much better bowl season than Texas Ten and clown fans refuse to acknowledge it. Nope they keep with their myth that the West sucks. Just that 5 douche culture you all are always touting.

Same thing with basketball. All we heard last year was all that mattered was the clowns beat us in December. Now all of a sudden the beat down the Hawks put on the clowns must also be ignored and doesn’t count for a multitude of reason.

Would really like an explanation of how this portion of the isu culture.
