Going on a limb here ISU

Just to provide a fact here. Anytime we have expectations we shit the bed too. Iowa States should get to a minimum 7 wins because of the little 12. Hawks will need a couple lucky bounces to go their way to beat them.

Clones are a preseason top 5 ranked team in college football after a top ten finish a year ago. No need to change the subject.

Preseason AP poll doesnt come out until August, broski.

ISU wont be top 5. The top 5 will be some order of Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma and then another SEC team (A&M, Georgia)

After week 2? Top 5. Wins over UNI and Iowa. Top 5 Iowa State heads to Las Vegas to play UNLV in front of tens of thousands of Iowa State fans.

Clown fans love imaginary wins. Just like Twins bragging about the initial Vegas spread the summer of the last game only to watch it evaporate before kickoff and Iowa roll to 5 straight.

Yeah that UNI game is a lock to win. Iowa too...

I have no problem with your logic. I'd even give you Ohio State better than Oklahoma in recent years.

The problem I have is a conference where teams (Iowa, Wisconsin) usually do not play the premier team in it's conference, yet seem to believe their school is on a diamond platter above their rivals in the state. (Big 10 has to live with terrible decision to add Maryland and Rutgers.)

Yes, you have beat us in recent years. Matt Campbell's biggest Achilles is starting the season slow, and you are game 2 most seasons. That doesn't define an entire season however.
Well, the B1G did have the Leaders and Legends thing going on for a small handful of seasons, and the whole point of that was to try to maintain some sort of competitive balance between the two divisions. There's no question that both the Leaders and the Legends were tougher than the B1G West is now, but both were also weaker than the B1G East. The divisions were re-aligned because of geography and rivalries - Iowa did not play Wisconsin every season under the Leaders and Legends format, even though the two schools aren't much more than 150 miles apart. Even Michigan and Ohio State were in separate divisions, but although the rivalry was preserved, it felt almost artificial because there was always the chance that they could meet again two weeks later in the conference championship game (which never actually happened). Despite the dumb division names and the apparent randomness of which teams ended up where, from a competitive standpoint it did make sense.

Coincidentally, Indiana (whom we face opening week) is in basically the same boat as Iowa State - a program whose only real tradition is having pretty much every other team in the conference toss them around like a ragdoll six or seven times a season, but the tables have turned and now both teams have NY6 bowl aspirations. Yes, they are certainly taking advantage of the fact that some regional powers are down (i.e. Michigan and Texas) and that other usually-strong programs (i.e. WVU, Penn State, Michigan State) are nothing special either. And in the age of conference realignment (yeah, I don't think we're done yet) Iowa State is extremely lucky in that they're finally finding success because if the P5 becomes a P4, they would have possibly found themselves without a seat should the music stop. (Indiana benefits because it's still carries some hoops clout, plus the B1G offers stability no other conference can provide - not even the SEC).

It's a huge longshot, but I personally wouldn't be opposed to ISU ultimately joining the B1G. Iowa-ISU during Rivalry Week with the West title on the line? Sign me up! ISU doesn't put many eyeballs on TV, not even from its own state (not only does it have to compete with Iowa, it also has to compete with Nebraska), and therefore doesn't bring much to the table revenue-wise. Academically it's not elite, but it's good enough for the B1G (unlike Nebby it's an AAU school). If the B12 ultimately does collapse, and ISU needs to break away from the Texas yoke, it can only help itself by continuing to win. It's in their best interest to keep Campbell around and to pay him handsomely.

I agree. Our football history pretty much sucks.

But a history of playing in sponsored named new year's day games doesn't make your program elite. Again, 36 years since you won an outright Big 10 championship.

You're a pretty good program. That's it.
So if Iowa is “a pretty good program” then ISU is shit. Am I following?

If you know anything about Iowa football we are not fast starters. Period. So the fact that you keep losing to a slow starting team means you are really slow and/or we both play our best ball later in the season but we would still beat you. Then there is that.

Why are you lumping Iowa in the same category as Wisconsin? Do you think they are comparable programs right now?
Yep, while Wisconsin has had Iowa’s # lately the games are always competitive. Overall, Iowa and Wisconsin are fairly similar programs. ISU fans say that even though the clones lose head to head games to Iowa, isu is still a better program.

Now run the numbers for basketball. Compare current players on NBA rosters from the Big 12 and Big Ten (keeping in mind one conference has ten teams the other has 14) particularly Iowa vs. Iowa State and lets hear your analysis.
Wait, weren’t we talking football?

Lol - do you really believe Iswho is a top 5 team? We all know last football season is an * due to the pandemic.

Returning, if only briefly, to the serious side.....A lot of ISU fans are hoping (and some are expecting) a return to the league title game and 10 or 11 regular season wins. If the team falls short of that, it will be a disappointment to those people.
Kind of wondering, if Iowa does not make the BIg 10 title game, will Iowa fans be disappointed? Seems to me Iowa fans really should expect more from their coaching staff than what they have produced. So when is KF going to break through and win the BIg 10?

Looked pretty normal to me, Bama, Clemson, OSU were in the playoff's and Bama wins another title.

Shit.

That kind of delusion should be studied. Clemson comparisons???

The Big 12 is waaaaaay down(again) and they caught some breaks to go 9-3 during a pandemic. Don’t forget a 17 point home loss to the Sun Belt. Now they think they are Clemson in waiting?

Fun fact from the 2021 NFL draft.
Big Ten West. 7 teams, 18 draft picks.
big 12 - 10 teams, 22 draft picks.

This upcoming season I do have high hopes of Iowa reaching the Big 10 title game. However, there are lots of good coaches/parity in B10 West Division, which always makes that a difficult task.

True...for the top of college football food chain. However, for the rest of the college football world, last season was certainly watered down by effects of the pandemic.

Why??? A former coach from the Hawkeye staff (Barry Alverez) built the Badgers similar to Iowa’s program...strong offensive line play, consistent run game, and stellar defense. Even similarities in the two programs recruiting tactics. I realize you’re not a Big 10 fan, so I can understand your ignorance on this topic.

This from a fan of a team who hasn't won an outright Big 10 Football Championship in 36 years.

But ask any Iowa fan, and 99.9% would say it's happened in the past 10 years.
Can you link for me the last outright football conference championship for isu that is recognized by the conference?

Clown fans can’t because isu has NEVER WON AN OUTRIGHT FOOTBALL CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP.

Yikes

It's amusing how much energy you clones put into convincing everybody (and each other) that you're important.

You are beating your chest about the BIG West having 2.57 draft picks per team as opposed to the Big 12 having 2.2 draft picks per team? Alrighty then...

Not really beating my chest, but I’m not the one constantly claiming the B1G West is terrible like delusional ISU fans. It’s better than the big 12, which is nothing to brag about.

.37 more NFL draft picks per team this year makes one college football conference better than the other huh? Interesting thought process.

Oh I was just talking about the B1G West. If you talk the entire conference it’s gets worse for you.

Tell me about the first round draft picks in the big 12 this year.

Here’s another fun fact.
Ferentz, 22 years, 79 draft picks.
ISU, 86 years, 120 draft picks.

Both conferences were down last year. Cyclones will have to have 10 more 9-3 records win a couple conference championships before talking sh!t.

You are really into the NFL draft. It seems you follow it very closely. Who has more 2022 NFL draft picks on their roster Iowa or Iowa State?
