Gut feeling about the bowl game

Not sure about this one with KJ gone how do we move the ball? I hope I am wrong on this one but if we don’t get out to a fast start I think we will lose this one. Again, I hope I am wrong on this.
Unfortunately I’m afraid you will be right. Hopefully the RB by committee works and we can get a little passing game going. Mizzou can be exposed in the pass game but thats not our jam

Like I said I hope I am super wrong…they need to come to play and bring their A game big time… not that Missouri strikes fear in me but they had a pretty good season…

Moulton and Jazz are very good running backs. The question is can our OLine make enough running lanes and it sounds like Mizzou has a hell of a good DLine but their secondary might be a weak link.

So pass it to run it. And the pass game needs to be production hitting on about 66%

I expect the defense to be strong and the offense to struggle - just like every game the last few years.

Probably gonna need something - a pick 6, and punt return TD, lots of Mizzou penalties and TO's - to get a W.

Fingers crossed!

There is very little objective reason to think Iowa can pull this one off. Iowa will be without their only major offensive weapon (as well as their All-B1G C), Iowa’s history against quality teams this decade is dismal, and despite concentrating 100% of time on bowl prep last year, as opposed to finding an offensive coordinator and portal recruiting, Iowa was one of the most unprepared teams I’ve ever seen for a bowl game.

But, I’ll be there rooting like crazy for my Hawks, and look forward to ringing in the new year in Nashville.

Isn’t Mizz missing their two stud WRs? That’s gotta be a big help which makes me think it’ll be like a 14-10 punting war.

Any team playing Iowa will go all out to stop the run on 1st and 2nd down to put Iowa behind the sticks. Force 3rd down conversions by air. Not a good formula for Hawks. Hopefully, Iowa comes out and throws a lot on 1st down and moves the ball.
Need to change your tendencies when someone can scout you for 3-4 weeks.

If Lester is in charge, Iowa will come out with Sully throwing off play action and RPOs. This game is a great time to get an early look at next year's balanced offense, and that means throwing the damn ball down the field, and throwing it often. Hit the seams over the middle. Use Wetjen in the slot on several quick slants. Try that at least 4 times and I'd be shocked if at least one didn't go the distance.

Passing effectively ain't nearly as difficult as recent Iowa teams have made it look . . . but with QBs like Petras, Hill, and McNamara, well . . . And an OC like BF? That's the formula for failure. Sully and Stratton can throw the ball, so let them. As a few others have said, it's pretty damn simple: throw it so you can run it.

There are no excuses. Iowa has some adequate receivers right now, so throw them the ball. Iowa needs to throw at least 25 passes vs. Missouri, and Iowa should pass off play action on the first play from scrimmage. A quick slant to Wetjen would be nice.

We're getting into early Hayden territory where fans were thrilled if we came out trying to pass...even if it didn't work. Just f***ing make an effort to keep the defense honest. If nothing else you screw with their game plan and make them adjust/rethink it.

Let’s be real – does having 3 to 4 weeks to scout Iowa‘s offense really make a difference? Most defensive coordinators have Iowa’s offense figured out after a 20 minute film session.

Very little as in the 43.3% chance that Vegas gives Iowa or the 47.2% chance that FPI does?

Whatever Mr. Sharp. Why don’t you put your typical $2 bet on the Iowa money line and then come back here and tell us all how it was a great bet and how awesome you are at gambling after you lose, because Iowa would win almost once if the game were played three times. Lol.

If Lester is running the offense, finally, and if he lets Sullivan throw the ball down the field--you know, like in modern football--I like Iowa's chances. Iowa's receivers are mostly young, but they're good enough to get open in a well-designed scheme, which Lester is supposed to have. It shouldn't take years to put in a passing game. If it does, the scheme is too complicated. My old pal Albert Einstein said, "Everything should be made as simple as possible." He didn't say college football passing games were an exception.

So let's see if Lester is smart enough to have installed an effective passing game with a dual threat QB. Let's see if he's smart enough to scratch where it itches, i.e., smart enough to pass on first down and in other running situations, and to run in passing situations. Doing so vastly enhances the chances of moving the ball and of winning. Just look around the country.

There are no legitimate excuses. Iowa has a healthy QB who can run and throw. Use him appropriately, and it opens up the entire offense for everyone else. Oh, and get Wetjen the ball from scrimmage, please, several times. And how about threatening the edges and using wheel routes and throwing passes down the middle of the field . . .

A rested and focused Iowa defense is gonna bring it, I think, so how about finally helping them out with a truly complementary, aggressive offense. And I would LOVE to see at least two trick plays--fake punt or FG, RB pass, flea flicker, tackle eligible pass. Have some fun and win a winnable game.

Take solace in the fact knowing that nobody besides Iowa or Missouri fans will care who won. And most of each fan base won’t care either lol.

Why would I say that if the bet lost? Iowa is not getting over 2:1 odds on the payout.

You're clearly in over your head in the sports betting realm.

Just go back to your obsession with Brian
