Harris promises on Day 1 to lower grocery prices.

That’s not what I asked. And please explain to me how she, or Trump, would lower grocery prices on day 1
Sure it is. And how the f**k would I know how they think are going to do it? I don't think it can be done. What does that question have to do with anything?

I was just asking to see if you had any insight.

So in kind of answering my question you admit that both parties say crap they know they can’t do just to pander to voters. It’s not limited to one party. That I can agree with.

The problem with this isn't that Kamala is dumb enough to think she can do it. The problem is, if she got elected we would deal with 4 years of having to explain to her that it has nothing to do with her skin or what is between her legs, it's just a horrible ****ing idea. ( if what she is wanting to do is even legal at that moment)
She's going to get that wall money from Mexico.

Well, they used inflation and supply chain issues to raise prices around Covid and then never lowered them, in fact kept raising prices even after inflation went back to normal levels but kept using that as the reason for why prices had to increase.

Short of experiencing a deflationary period, why would prices ever return to what you're calling "normal" levels,... Here's a clue,.. they won't.

What? Every MAGA I counter on social media is convinced that Trump will lower prices on everything. None of them can explain how but they know he will do it.

The substance of answers I've gotten go something like this. Prices are high right now because of "all time high inflation". Trump will fix inflation so prices will come down. I point out that all time high inflation was in 1917 at just under 18% and that the inflation rate already came down to 3% which they call a lie every time I mentioned it. One guy assured me the "TV numbers" are wrong and that the inflation rate is around 60%, based on his feelings I assume.

Something else interesting I see now is that they claim that google is "compromised" so you can't trust ANYTHING that you search in google. I explained that google is a web index and doesn't host the data that their search results present to you. It's like saying you can't trust the catalog at a library. They could put up a website about the deep state/google putting nanochips in our water to mind control us with 5G and you could have it show up in google search results a day later.

Yoyoy inflation vs single year was the conversation you needed to have. We have compounding inflation at this point.

Lol at thinking the Google algorithm isn't hacked.

Who’s been in charge since the last election, or is it still DTs fault?
Many of the issues that created this inflation have been addressed, too. Prices lower much slower than they increase unless the economy tanks…which it hasn’t yet. But higher interest rates, corrections to the supply chain and employment are more normal numbers now. Nothing happens over night.

"Day 1".

I have friends who work at google. Granted, they are all in on it so of course they will lie to me.

Are you talking about the "sponsored" results that they put at the top? Is it more sinister than that? i.e. I search for proof of election fraud and google hides all of the actual proof and shows me fake news about how all of the investigations turned up nothing except republican fraud?

It's practically impossible any political entity to lower prices across the board,.. However, what you can do over time, is to impose a combination of low inflation with gradually increasing wages,.. It's going to take at least 10 years of good economic conditions to put us back to where we were pre-covid,.. There are no quick fixes for this.

Wouldn’t increasing wages cause prices to increase due to increased cost to suppliers? Or potentially loss of jobs.

Agreed but it's not what people want to hear. Trump is also promising to "end the inflation nightmare" and that he will lower prices "very quickly". People seriously think he is going to come in, make a few tweaks and suddenly the impact of covid disappears.

Add transport of materials
Cost of materials is over-stated.
My S-I-L company manufactures softball uniforms. They grow the product(cotton) in Egypt/Ethiopia, take the cotton and make it into cloth and uniforms(Ethiopia) , ship it to the DR where the uniforms are “Marked” and then shipped to the US, via LA and Chicago for distribution….and that method (and transportation costs) are still more efficient than having the uniform made 100% in the USA.

Not exactly what she said. She's not currently President so she can't take executive actions.

Harris told a packed campaign rally in Atlanta last week that she would “take on price gouging and bring down costs” on “Day One” of her presidency.

As president, Biden has promised to crack down on price gouging and so-called shrinkflation, but has so far resisted progressives’ latest call to unleash a suite of executive actions targeting food retailers and others.

While Harris has mostly echoed White House talking points on the economy, her rhetoric in recent weeks has made progressive Democrats hopeful that she could break with Biden on the matter.

And how will she know who is price gouging? Will she pour over every businesses private books? With her vast business experience, will she know what an appropriate profit margin is?

Not dismissing your story, I’ve seen warehouses completely full of cotton stacked to the ceiling in Brazil waiting for the right market pricing, but got to believe cost of shipping depends on the products, cotton vs building materials.

If a company reports increased profits while their prices for their products also increased, seems like that could be a tell…

Some of which can have perfectly reasonable explanations and isn’t nefarious at all, sure. But that’s not true across the board.

Just my opinion, but I think most politicians are
You’re not totally wrong - although to be fair, imo, the blame for that is at least partly on voters who demand sweeping, immediate fixes to problems that are more complex than they want to hear about.

So they have to make promises they know are unkeepable. I’m seeing that already with ads From Zach nunn in central Iowa - who’s promising that he’ll get legislation passed attacking issues x, y or z…ignoring the 10,000 hurdles you’d have in the first place.
