Harris promises on Day 1 to lower grocery prices.

The problem with this isn't that Kamala is dumb enough to think she can do it. The problem is, if she got elected we would deal with 4 years of having to explain to her that it has nothing to do with her skin or what is between her legs, it's just a horrible ****ing idea. ( if what she is wanting to do is even legal at that moment)

Is it his job to run the economy? Think about it. Seriously.
Harris is saying she’s going to do so when she’s elected. My point has always been that she’s full of s***. If she’s not full of s***, why hasn’t this administration already taken the action she’s promising to take in January? If they are choosing to wait, then they are choosing to allow inflation to wreck the economy to help her win the election.
She is just making empty promises that she knows she will not keep, and no one will hold her accountable.

She’s the VP…Joe is the President….rank has its privileges..Joe has the higher rank. Right now he’s a “Lame duck” and he has no power…but then, he has one to answer to. ;)
Seems to me, your beef is with Biden. Suck on it.

Nearly every politician makes empty promises they can’t keep.

Okay, but then she can’t claim credit for anything positive that Biden has done as President.

Why not? But technically you are correct….you guys just can’t have it both ways. Your gonna have to improve your “research” methods on her.

Fantastic. Why doesn’t she do it now with Biden though? What’s stopping her now that won’t on Day 1?
Why do something today, when you can put it off till tomorrow.

In, truth though, if the Dems actually did this today, they'd win Nov no problem. My guess is they don't know how or don't really want to and doing the usual political thing and saying after I'm elected this is what I'll do.

Ronald Reagan had one of the best jokes about this.

Unfortunately, RR is dead…….and today’s MAGAT
Republicans have disowned him.

Not exactly what she said. She's not currently President so she can't take executive actions.

Harris told a packed campaign rally in Atlanta last week that she would “take on price gouging and bring down costs” on “Day One” of her presidency.

As president, Biden has promised to crack down on price gouging and so-called shrinkflation, but has so far resisted progressives’ latest call to unleash a suite of executive actions targeting food retailers and others.

While Harris has mostly echoed White House talking points on the economy, her rhetoric in recent weeks has made progressive Democrats hopeful that she could break with Biden on the matter.

Awesome. Can she start with the big pharmacy corporations instead?

Big pharmaceutical is where writing a multi-billion dollar check can absolve you from being part of or directly killing 100s of thousands of US citizens

Pharmaceutical companies are not buying ads on CNN, they're buying CNN itself.
When they sponsor a show, they're not doing it so you'll ask your doctor about their pills. They're doing it so they can control what the network says.

Pretty much everything is bought by some entity that has financial interest. It’s sad

So the Republican answer to rising prices is to “shut up, fall in line and quit complaining, because we have the best, most fair delivery system in the world”? Right?
As opposed to pouring gasoline on a fire? Cool.

The “system” is fine according to Repubbers…it’s working as it should….. then why are the MAGAts leading the charge for a buffet system, FAU? Either it’s is doing what it is supposed to do (allowing inflated retail prices) or there are “middle men” taking too much of the $$ charged for finished products? Which is it, MAGA FAU? You and yours cannot have it both ways? What’s your solution…Drill baby drill?”

Turning to politics, I’m officially fascinated by the fact that Harris’ campaign strategy when it comes to policy matters seems to be basically, “what he said.” First there was the whole taxation of tips thing. Second is the idea that grocery prices are a problem that must be addressed.

Now of course her “solution” to the latter is the classic lawyers solution — force, in the form of “anti price gouging” laws (notwithstanding that I’m not even aware of a whiff that grocery prices are a function of gouging).

Funnily enough cnns page lead with a piece saying a variety of economists thing this not just stupid but potentially harmful. One wonders whether politically, at some point someone will ask her why she is just piggybacking on trumps themes. Might he be “right”?

Every presidential candidate makes empty promises. Every. Last. One. At least this is a good empty promise.

I agree about the empty promises, but dude, this is just a stupid empty promise. A thousand points of light will accomplish more good than this.

Protecting consumers will always be a good goal. Certainly beats promising to build a 50 foot tall 2,000 mile wall made out of concrete and pure bullshit.

Empty shelves aren’t the protection I want or need.
I need protection from the people trying to get a hand in my pocket.

How many millions of illegal immigrants are you ok with?

So her ideas are not good enough for her to bring them to the president to implement?

Sounds like what the Dems were saying for 3 years about the border. Remember that? Crisis? What crisis? Then All of a sudden…”we have a major crisis!!!”

They all suck badly. I hate them all.

Understand Aardvark this is not a new ploy. I can go back to mt youth as my dad was an independent pharmacist…as most drug stores were in the 50’s and 60’s. Nixon supported a “nationalization” of the drug industry and believe the most efficient way to run this program was through the Walgreen’s, the Osco’s and other “chains” primarily located in larger urban areas. In the early 1970’s Nixon announced a “price freeze” on retail pharmaceuticals…and this program ran for 6 months. At the end of this time many of the small independents were run out of business as their wholesale prices were many times, higher than that the local pharmacist was allowed to charge. For good measure, Nixon extended this “price freeze” another few months. The result was many small independents weee run out of business ness and the $$ of RX meds was turned over, de facto to “Big Pharma” and effectively eliminated the retailer from the pricing chain. Back in this days, pharmacy reps primarily call upon the individual pharmacy for inputs as to RX needs and costs. Today, I’m betting Pharm Reps never darken the door of a drug store in performance of their job duties. They call directly on the Dr. and let’s be honest, for the most part Socs don’t care what a RX costs…because everyone has insurance, ridge? I do know docs to get nice vacations and seminars (expenses paid) tossed in their direction …… I think the best offer dad ever got was tickets to the KC Royals after Ewing Kaufman bought the team…
I wish the corporate entities involved exercised a little more control in what they charge (and pass on) to the consumer as the product becomes made and finished for retail sale. The only suckers here apparently would be the producer of the raw product ( in Iowa the farmer or livestock producer who gavlittle wiggle room in “price” and the terail customer who pats for the finished product.
Given what has happen Mr. Aardvark/MAGA, what your solution? We can stand clear and let the thing destroy itself I guess. The re is a lot corporate greed out there. A box of Cheerio’s costing $4+ a box? Really? Those wheat farmers in Kansas must be making a killing, huh? I bet they are driving their Lexus’ to church on Sundays! Those cattle and pig farmers in Western and NW Iowa… I wonder what the he’ll they are doing with all their $$$… their backyards have to be full of vegetable cans filled will $100 bills! I mean, a T-bone is $20 at the meat counter…. There’s a lot of “profit” that needs to be fully explained… abs the American consumer simply doesn’t have the patience for such an explanation.

However, 3 months ago, a solution, written by a MAGA Senator was offered to be signed into law but Trumpf, not surprisingly, told the nation he needed a border crisis more than the nation needed a solution. Move on FAU, yours is a tired old and worn out argument.
