You would think Purdue just won the national title. Listen to the fans.
They were cheering for #15 a senior, who was hunting for a shot to score given hes their last guy off the bench. You would think Purdue just won the national title. Listen to the fans.
As exciting as Wisconsin is to watch, I might actually put a hole in my TV. Out.Anybody else gonna watch the rackfest?
Can't believe anybody is still watching this embarrassing turd show

We’ve given up 100 twice now on the road, to teams in the bottom half of the league.
Scoring 100 in conference play is really really hard. It’s been done to us multiple times now.
The world isn’t ending...but we aren’t a top tier team either.
I was going to post something similar .100 points have been scored twice in big ten play this year. Both against Iowa. We’ve given up 100 twice now on the road, to teams in the bottom half of the league.

It’s interesting to me how many teams and players seem to have have “fluke games” vs Iowa. For context and perspective NBA record for threes made in a game is 27 by Houston.
That was not Iowa’s best effort but that was also a fluke. I’m not sure I’ve ever watched a more sustained, virtually uninterrupted team-wide zone in nearly every aspect as that.

Meh, this team is too beaten up, and had been for a while, to make it back up to challenge for the Big Ten title. The other thing about the timing of this game, this is the 4th game in I think 9 days. The effort that went into the previous 3 games was pretty substantial. Yes, effort was bad, but they don't have the depth or skill on the bench to be able to compete when the starters are not in. Some of the sub patterns you wonder who is going to score. There have been a lot of times where they have one guy who is a threat to score. You cannot have that to contend for conference championships.
Thanks, 10. That cheered me up a lot! They will be dangerous at home in the NIT. Too bad they’ll have to go to NYC if they want to win it all.
I am not saying they were going to contend for the conference. I don't care who you are, if you are in the situation Iowa is in, the likelihood of your team winning a conference championship, is slim. Especially if you play the style of basketball Iowa does. I think tonight was actually more mental fatigue than physical though.Meh, this team is too beaten up, and had been for a while, to make it back up to challenge for the Big Ten title.
How about we just worry about getting the best seed for the BTT possible, and try to actually make a run in that tournament to prepare us for a f***ing run in the NCAA tour tournament......instead of buying into our own hype about winning a regular season conference championship.
Let's wait for that until next year if and when Garza decides to return.

#15 shot 100% above his average tonight. Or maybe it is 600% shit idk..It’s interesting to me how many teams and players seem to have have “fluke games” vs Iowa.
We are a slump-buster, no question. I’ve said this for many years now—teams whose culture is rooted in great defense and rebounding, but not great offense, seem to kill Fran. And it’s because they defend the shit out of each other in practice so when Iowa likes up everything is easy and nothing Iowa does makes anybody uncomfortable. It’s interesting to me how many teams and players seem to have have “fluke games” vs Iowa.
This really was a statistical outlier for Purdue this season. They were the 2nd-worst offensive team in the conference.Give any player outside Stefanovic 29 3’s and they don’t make 17 of them wide open. Just stupid. Of course this BS would happen against Iowa... while there’s a lid on the hoop for the Hawks
How big is the “top tier”?
As big as the number of ranked teams that haven’t given up 100 points multiple times in their conference schedule.
Bakari Evelyn disagrees. When you don't have a guy in your face, it is pretty easy to make shots.

This year is a little better. Joe T makes some guys uncomfortable. CJ is almost always in the right spot, Connor, too. But they’re not making anybody uncomfortable. Look at the male pattern baldness dude. He likely goes against Eastern a lot. You think Kriener or Garza or Pemsl or Connor is going to bother him?
And I say this as a fan of the Iowa guys and I want Fran to succeed. But programs like Purdue and MSU and Wisconsin will always be a problem for him.
Remember Raveling and then Dr. Tom days when Iowa consistently led the nation in rebound margin? That was not an accident. Besides the teaching and drilling it was an all-the-time primary emphasis and it was an every day war for rebounds. So the game rolled around and teams would try to compete but it’s hard to compete with a culture unless you have a culture that is equal to the task.
Purdue gets to play freely on offense because their confidence in getting stops and rebounds is so high versus Iowa. And then when every shot goes in it snowballs.
My high school program was all about defense and rebounding. We played pressure-free on offense as a result. Peoria Manual was pretty much the same. There’s a reason we were both top five in state every year throughout the 80s and much of the 90s and into the 2000s with Marcellus Somerville and Shaun Livingston and Daniel Ruffin at the tail end there. So I’m a believer in the foundation of your program being defense and rebounding first, everything else after.
And the thing is your offense gets good by the end of the year by virtue of having to compete against your own defense all year. I really don’t understand why anybody would build a program any other way. My brother and I talk about this all the time. Growing up in Peoria in the era that we did made us such basketball snobs. Lol.Right on. My HS coach was a Bo Ryan disciple so every practice was just fundamentals after fundamentals. Block out drills, multiple defensive drills, always have to be in a stance and our coach really got after us everyday. Games were a breeze compared to practice. We just chewed up teams who hung their hat on offense.
I know a few baseball coaches with the same philosophy. Practice's consist of fundamentals. Very little hitting. Works on defense and pitching mostly, with some bunting and base running sprinkled in. Teams do wellRight on. My HS coach was a Bo Ryan disciple so every practice was just fundamentals after fundamentals. If you were that Purdue walk-on would you have used that game as an opportunity to unveil your 360-spin-jumpshot?Some Purdue fan will for sure be making a video of all of those made 3s set to Let The Bodies Hit The Floor.

We were 5-2 last February. The real fade came in March where we were 0-3 before the BTT. We would have been 1-2 in March, but that revenge game from Rutgers was our first game in March at home. We're 1-1 so far this month with 8 games left, so I'm optimistic that we'll win our home games and drop the rest on the road. I think we finish the remainder of February at 3-3. We get our revenge game against Purdue on March 3 and we then finish up at Illinois on March 8. I'm predicting 20-11 for the regular season and 11-9 in Conference. Here comes the”February Fade.”
